More industries are winding down by day.

A wise government won't always use the direct ban approach.... sometimes you increase the tax they pay , this will increase the price of their products, there by leading to decrease in demand for it.

Government Policies has always been the reason a lot of big players refuse to invest in the Nigerian Market. How can a Government Agency wake up one day and place a ban on an industry with over a Trillion Naira investment? How Bans like this should be done in phases, if it must be done. You must have to give investors time to recoup their investment.
Government officials fail to realize that a lot goes into these industries. It's not just about the product, it is also about Human Capital that make up these industries. 5.5 million job loses will be a very big blow to any economy. That's at least 2 million households affected.
The only option left for these manufacturers is to approach an Industrial Court. Go with a strong case. Recoup money invested and save all these people from unemployment. These civil servants and politicians do not care. They have to fight.

If you want to ban something, ban it in it's entirety.

It's all about the money.

I wonder why alcohol and smoking are still selling despite the negative medical effects it has on the human body.

We all know it's bad, yet people consume it. Doesn't that teach us something? grin grin
Re: Sachet Alcohol Ban: Manufacturers Fear 5.5 Million Job Loss by elfico(m): 8:01am On Feb 20
While banning it might be the easy way out, people would find alternatives and those might be even more dangerous.
Just tax the he'll out of it and use the tax to build health facilities. Just like how UK raised sugar tax when the diabetes cases went up.
Wait, what am I even saying. Na Nigeria we dey yawn

Tax the help out of it is equally another easy way out
We might as well tax the help out of cocaine and build more mental homes
Very superficial solution
How many countries in the world tolerate this product?

Satchet alcohol is not our problem in this country. Those our leaders that are not taking it, are their brains working better than the youths that are taking it?

They're gradually turning Nigeria into an Islamic Republic before our very own eyes using cunning tactics to achieve their aim. Before we know it, there'll be outright ban in alcohols. More induced hunger there by forcing the masses to accept what they say.
