Fresh Attacks In Kafanchan Claims Village Head

Reprisal attacks in the restive northern Nigerian township of Kafachan in Kaduna state has claimed the life of Malam Bulus Adamu, the village head of  Ungwar Shekamang

.Armed attackers believed to be Fulani gunmen this morning attacked a home of Fantsuwan chiefdom in Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State in a pre-dawn raid.  They killed the village head and his wife.  She survived the initial assaults but later died of her injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the armed attackers held the village to ransom for several hours. Soldiers purportedly drafted to the are were  nowhere to be found. Yesterday the Kaduna state government had claimed soldiers were drafted to quell the crisis while a 24-hour curfew was imposed in the areas following the violence that broke out on Wednesday.

Violence broke out in Kafanchan on Wednesday following the execution of a Muslim youth by a christian group who was accused him of killing Christians during the April post-election violence in Kafanchan.
