OONI HOSTS ACTING PRESIDENT OF NYCN: CHARGES THE COUNCIL TO PUT THE INTEREST OF THE YOUTH FIRST

In a historic meeting held in the nation’s capital, Abuja, the 51st Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ọjájá II) CFR, played host to the Acting President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Mukhtar Akoshile, and his delegation of national and state chapter executives.

The purpose of the visit was to consolidate on the collaborative partnership between the traditional leadership and the apex youth organization in Nigeria, with a primary focus on advocating for youth capacity development and empowerment for leadership in the country.

During the meeting, Comrade Akoshile briefed the revered monarch on the ongoing activities within the NYCN and introduced members of his executive team to the royal palace. The Ooni of Ife, known for his commitment to youth development, blessed the team and imparted a crucial message.

In his address, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi admonished the NYCN leadership to prioritize the collective interest of the youth, urging them to steer clear of divisive interests. Emphasizing the importance of an all-inclusive tenure, the Ooni charged the council to keep the palace informed about the youth constituency's happenings to ensure a unified direction.

The Ooni assured the NYCN delegation that the palace doors are always open for initiatives and efforts aimed at uplifting Nigerian youth. He underscored the significance of the royal throne in championing the cause of the youth, encouraging the NYCN to utilize its platform for the betterment of young people in the country.

In response, Comrade Akoshile expressed gratitude to His Imperial Majesty for leveraging the power and influence of the royal throne to advocate for the youth. He pledged the NYCN's commitment to always prioritizing the interests of Nigerian youth, promising to engage them in program development and implementation.
