African tribes waged wars over farm lands, kingship battles, even women, but never because of their idols. Ogun, sango, oya worshippers will fight side by side against an external attack. What do we have today? If a jihadist is killing christians, some moslems will defend it and make correcting that anomaly hard. As christians Israel is killing Palestinian Muslims now, some christians are justifying it and making corrections difficult. Religion has not helped humanity, it the cause of majority of bloodshed, not only Islam and Christianity alone, other ones too. The world needs to make religion a private affair.

Nope. They probably did fight wars of religion.

We won't know because much of African history is not written.

And even if you are right, fighting wars over land is not a better war than war over gods. It is still war and people die for nothing.

Plus many African wars yielded slaves. Slaves sold to other Africans and eventually to the whites and arabs.

If anything, Christianity and Islam to some extent provided some indication across tribal lines. To some extent, mind. At the end we are still humans, and nothing can control us

African History is written. Don't follow the Western God Masters who told us we had no history. We kept our history by oral traditions and when writing came, we started documenting them. And none of the records how's any religious wars among tribes.

No, fighting for properties is different from fighting for religion. Fighting for property shows that there is a physical verifiable item been disputed. But as for Religion, we fight for a god we have never seen for the promise of heaven we are not sure of. And we take joy in shedding the blood of other believing the imaginary god is pleased with us.

While slavery is terrible and a bad fate, it's still the Christian and Muslim worshipers who bought the slaves, didn't their God teach them that it's wrong. But no, Africans are not human, they can be traded as commodities, it has not spiritual wrong meaning.
