Onitsha, Anambra State - February 26, 2024 Tragedy struck in Onitsha on Monday night as a three-storey building under construction collapsed at Ochanja market by Woliwo Street Fegge, claiming the lives of at least six individuals. The incident, which occurred around 8pm, left a devastating toll on the construction site. Reports from the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (ASEMA) confirm that among the debris, six individuals were found d£ad. Additionally, 20 others were rescued from the wreckage with various injuries. Rescue efforts are ongoing as emergency services work tirelessly through the night. Eyewitnesses, some of whom narrowly escaped the collapse, estimate that approximately fifty workers were present at the site when the building gave way.
