The American newspaper The Washington Post revealed that the United States has concluded more than 100 arms sales deals to Israel since the start of the Gaza war on October 7, of which only two deals have been announced. According to the American newspaper, which obtained information that it said was “confidential,” the 100 deals include thousands of guided munitions, bombs, armor, small arms, and other deadly weapons.

Only two military deals to Israel have been announced since October 7, the first for tank ammunition worth $106 million, and the second for components needed to make 155 mm shells worth $147.5 million. But in the rest of the deals, known as “foreign military sales,” the weapons were transferred without any public discussion, according to US officials and lawmakers who spoke on condition of anonymity.

These deals are the latest indication of Washington's involvement in the five-month-old conflict, even as senior American officials and lawmakers increasingly express reservations about Israel's military approach, in a campaign that has killed more than 30,000 people, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

These sales have called for public scrutiny, because US President Joe Biden's administration bypassed Congress to approve the deals by resorting to emergency authority. The Washington Post described these deals as a “massive transfer of firepower,” amid complaints from senior American officials that the Israelis ignored their calls to limit civilian casualties, allow more aid into Gaza, and refrain from rhetoric calling for the displacement of Palestinians. “This is an abnormal number of sales in a very short period of time, which strongly indicates that the Israeli campaign cannot resume without this level of American support,” said Jeremy Konyndyk, head of the International Refugee Organization and a former Biden administration official.

In the same context, State Department spokesman Matt Miller said that the Biden administration “followed the procedures established by Congress itself to keep members well-informed and regularly briefed (about the deals), even when formal notification is not a legal requirement.”

He added that American officials “contacted with Congress regarding the sale and transfer of weapons to Israel more than 200 times,” since the Hamas attack on October 7. When asked about the flow of weapons to Israel, some American lawmakers who participate in the committees supervising national security said that the Biden administration “must exercise its influence over the government of Israel.”
America is also considering preventing Israel from using American weapons in a possible attack on Palestinian Rafah
The administration of US President Joe Biden is studying ways to prevent Israel from using American weapons in a possible attack on the Palestinian city of Rafah.

According to a report carried by Sputnik from the media, “The American administration expressed its concern about the occurrence of a critical humanitarian crisis in the city in the south of the Gaza Strip, in the event that Israel launches an attack on it, given the presence of more than a million Gazans, who fled to the south after the war".

According to the report, “Biden and his advisors have not yet taken any decision regarding setting the conditions for the use of American weapons, but discussions about setting such conditions now indicate a growing concern among the American administration about the possibility of such a crisis occurring.”

Also according to the report, “The Biden administration is concerned that Israel’s plan to attack Rafah has not yet ended, and in the aftermath, this attack could exacerbate the difficult humanitarian situation in the Strip without ending the war.”

He pointed out that “there are officials in the American administration who said that they did not receive a clear plan from Israel on how to protect more than a million Gazans who live in Rafah.”

In an infinite toll, the number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip rose to 30,717, the majority of whom were children and women, and 72,156 were injured, while thousands of victims remain under the rubble.
Civilians: Lebanese reports revealed that Israel conveyed a message to Lebanon through Western diplomats that March 15 is the last date for reaching a political settlement, otherwise it is prepared to escalate military operations into a full-scale war.
