PROUD TO CELEBRATE WOMEN AS THE WORLD MARKS THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women around the world. It is a day to recognize the progress that has been made in advancing gender equality and to acknowledge the work that still needs to be done to ensure that women have equal rights and opportunities in all areas of life.

Women have made significant strides in the fight for equality and have broken down barriers in many fields, including politics, business, science, and the arts. They have proven time and time again that they are capable of achieving great things and have shown that they are just as capable as men in any endeavour they choose to pursue.

One of the most important aspects of International Women's Day is the recognition of the struggles that women face on a daily basis. Women around the world continue to face discrimination, violence, and inequality in many areas of their lives. They are underrepresented in leadership positions and are more likely to experience poverty and lack access to education and healthcare.

Despite these challenges, women continue to fight for their rights and to make their voices heard. They are leading movements for social change, advocating for gender equality, and working to create a more just and equitable world for all. Women are powerful agents of change and have the ability to shape the future in a positive way.

On this special day, it is important to celebrate the achievements of women and to recognize the progress that has been made in advancing gender equality. It is also a day to reflect on the work that still needs to be done to ensure that women have equal rights and opportunities in all areas of life. One of the key ways to support women on this day is to advocate for gender equality and to work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society. This can be done by supporting women-owned businesses, promoting women in leadership positions, and advocating for policies that promote gender equality.

It is also important to listen to women's voices and to amplify their stories and experiences. As a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I will continue to put in efforts that can help to create a more just and equitable world for all, and I will continue to partner with relevant authorities to promote the wellbeing of women.

On behalf of my family and the good people of Anambra South Senatorial District, I wish a happy celebration to all women. Indeed, no woman, no nation.

Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, CON
Anambra South Senatorial District
March 8, 2024.
