Concern Mounts As Angry Northern Children Hit The Street In Protest With Harmful Objects
In the aftermath of three days of relentless bandit attacks on multiple villages in Katsina State, last week saw hundreds of children left to roam the streets unattended, drawing attention to a stark indictment of the nation’s security apparatus and prompting accusations of governmental neglect.

Bandits carried out a series of assaults across various villages in Katsina last week, notably targeting the Wurma community for three consecutive days without any intervention from security forces.

In response to the brutal killings of their parents, enraged children took to the streets, brandishing sticks and chanting, to express their frustration over what they perceived as a lack of concern from government and security officials regarding their safety and well-being.

The protest in Wurma, primarily led by children aged between 10 and 15, showcased the village’s abandonment following the relentless attacks, with security personnel conspicuously absent.

A viral video captured during the demonstration depicts the children passionately voicing their grievances about the recurring bandit raids that have claimed lives in Katsina.

One of the protesters, Jamil Mabai, lamented the desolation of Wurma, emphasizing the absence of security forces and the vulnerability of the residents. He stated, “Our parents are being slaughtered like animals. We are helpless and that is why we are crying out to the whole world to come to our rescue. The government has abandoned us.”

The protest elicited diverse reactions among Nigerians, with some interpreting it as a poignant plea for international attention to their community’s plight due to perceived governmental apathy.

Conversely, concerns have been raised about the potential long-term psychological impact on the children involved, as they grapple with the traumatic experience and uncertainty about their future.

While Vice President Kashim Shettima assured strengthened security measures, skepticism persists among Nigerians, who view such pledges as mere political rhetoric echoing familiar promises.

Shettima reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties nationwide, extending assurances not only to Katsina but to all of Nigeria.

Federal lawmaker Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, representing the Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa constituency, expressed deep concern over the incessant banditry attacks on his constituents, describing the situation as intolerable and highlighting the displacement of residents from their homes due to the ongoing violence perpetrated by criminal groups.

They better join their elder brothers in the banditry business. The foundations of the business was laid by Ahmed Yerima((Zamfara), momodu Sherif , elrufai and co while the super structure was put up by Buhari in less than 8years.
It's a big business that spans 6 countries

1000% correct. Tinubu should move quicker and do absolutely whatever it takes to deliver State policing.

When that is a reality then we will see who Northerners will disturb with disruptive protests other than their governors and leaders who, in most cases, are the ones, or know those, sponsoring terror against the people.

Northerners don’t realize we are moving into an age when all Nigerians are becoming fed up of their Taqiyah and something will have to give over their blackmail of Nigeria and the south every time a Southerner is President. OBJ got the treatment, so did Jonathan and now it is Tinubu’s turn.

They can accept proliferation of terror under Buhari for 8 years, sponsored and carried out by Northerners against Northerners, without so much as a single protest.

Yet they want to tear down the 10 month old Government of Tinubu without giving him a sensible length of time to tackle insecurity that only worsened horribly, to the North’s detriment the most, under 8 years of Buhari.

All Nigerians, victims or perpetrators and innocent or guilty, will reap the reward of the unreasonable behavior of some Nigerians and the idiocy of good men doing nothing thereby letting evil thrive.
