5 Things Every Nigerian Entrepreneur Must Do Daily: By Amechi Okoli

Being an entrepreneur means being in charge of your business, which means the success or failure of your establishment is completely in your hands.

Well, not completely, as we also have to consider the unfavorable Nigerian economic climate and how it affects the pursuit of our daily bread.

Still, there is always something we can do to keep ourselves and our businesses moving in the right direction. That being said, consider these 5 daily tips.

1. Exercise in the mornings

It has been proven that exercising daily not only improves our physical well-being, but it also sharpens us mentally and helps us become more disciplined. Of course mental sharpness and discipline are both important in running any business.

2. Make a to-do list

Entrepreneurs have too many things to do per day, and it will be difficult remembering them all. Which is why making a to-do list will be very helpful. All you need to do is save all your tasks on your phone's notepad, dedicate specific times for their execution, and set reminders so you'll know you're on check!

3. Do the hardest tasks first

While making your to-do list, be sure to prioritize the hardest tasks. This is because the further the day drags the more tired our bodies get. And since your body is filled with more energy at the beginning of the day, why not use that energy to complete the difficult tasks first? This makes sense since you don't need too much energy to do the easy tasks.

4. Take breaks when necessary

No matter how hard you want to work, you're only human and your body needs to cool off at several intervals. This is where breaks come in. You can pause your work and step outside for some fresh air, a bottle of water, or whatever it is that helps you refresh. You'd be surprised how much energy a 15 minute break will help you recover.

5. Evaluate your daily performance

At the end of each working day, do a quick rundown of how you performed. Did you send marketing emails as planned? Did you post your social media adverts as planned? Did you finish the tasks you had at hand for the day? Did you connect with potential customers as planned?

Simply put, check to see if you did everything you set out to do that day, as this will help you know if you're on track or not.

Conclusion

Running a business in Nigeria has become more difficult than ever before, which is why tips like the ones I've mentioned in this write-up have become more important than ever. Hopefully they will be of help to you just as they've been helpful to me.

Feel free to share some extra tips if you have any.

God bless!
