1-YOU ARE SAYING THE SENATE HAS THE FINAL SAY ON THE BUDGET ? SO EVEN IF THERE IS BLATANT MISAPPROPRIATION OF THE BUDGET? NOBODY IN NIGERIA CAN REPRIMAND THE SENATE ? NOBODY CAN CALL FOR OVERSIGHT ? NO CHECKS AND BALANCES ?

2-THE FACT THAT SOME SENATORS ARE GETTING MORE MONEY THAN OTHERS, SCREAM CORRUPTION ? THE SENATORS GETTING LESS ARE THEIR COMMUNITIES IN NEED OF LESS CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS ?

3-WE NIGERIANS ELECTED THE SENATE AND PRESIDENT...IF WE DEMAND AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE BUDGET ALLOCATION TO SENATORS FOR TRANSPARENCY..WE SHOULD GET IT...YOUR BOSS TINUBU AND APKABIO, WORKS FOR US...NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

4-SUSPENDING PEOPLE FROM SENATE IS A MAFIA MOVE, ALLEGATIONS SHOULD BE ENTERTAINED, YOU GUYS ARE SO MUCH IN A HURRY TO SHUT OFF NINGI, A WHOLE SENATOR. (THERE IS A RIGHT WAY OF EVEN DOING A WRONG ACT). THIS IS ABUSE OF POWER.

DO THE RIGHT THING, RECALL NINGI AND SET UP A COMMITTEE TO ADDRESS HIS ALLEGATIONS, THE ONES YOU FIND WORTHY OF REDRESS, SHOULD BE ATTENDED TO AND THE ONES THAT LACK MERIT SHOULD BE DISCARDED. BUT NIGERIANS ARE INSISTING YOU CANNOT SUSPEND A WHOLE SENATOR WITH KANGAROO SENATE PROCEEDINGS.
THIS REMINDS US OF MILITARY RULE ERA.......THIS IS DEMOCRACY, THERE SHOULD BE A DISCERNING DIFFERENCE.[/b]

If nigeria is a functional country, Bagudu should be in jail and not become a governor then minister

He’s trying to justify all the over bloated figures and stealing

Keep acting the fool while Nigerians especially your folks from Benue state are impoverished.
It seems you do not know who this minister is. A as someone said earlier a lion was placed to take care of goats abi sheeps. The lion knows what to do best which is consume them. That is what is happening to you, I and other Nigerians. Some of us can afford to get 3 square meals, but what about millions of Nigerians? As chimamanda said "Juvenile fulmination from non-juvenile person".

Many won't still read to understand the big quagmire this Nation is into...

Atiku Bagudu has taken his time to explain...it's for us to now call for holistic approach to stopping this menace..

All these noise will not stop the NASS from doing same thing in the coming year..except they are stopped by the court or by a bill they themselves will pass to stop themselves..

One wonders why the PDP and especially Atiku are finding their voices on what they know appears to be a very dark and selfish norm at the NASS!

There are loads of nonsense in 1999 constitution.

Bro your number 1 question, is it not the other party members that are supposed to deliberate on it?
If they add something else is it not the pdp that will vote against it?
I don't understand. After they pass it, isn't it presented to the president to make it a law.

The president can veto it isn't it?

A seasoned politician is the minister for budget planning?

Ok. I hope Nigeria gets better, but the timeline is quite bleak.

Not every Senator is aware of the budget padding as it is usually done at the committee level before it is brought to the floor.

Also the allegations going around seem to indicate that, not all Senators got money in form of constituents project to entice them to vote for the budget, only key Principal officers got their palms lubricated.

Yet before voting they may have heard about this and they were wrong not to have raised durst over it and to lend their voices to the current saga at least for citizens to know which side they belong to.

Very true, the president still has veto power, but the president is most likely afraid of the senators........He is pretending not to know whats going on. The fact that they have always padded the budget doesn't make it right.

Once they agree on the presidents budget the president just let them do their thing, scratch my back I scratch your back thing.

The other party are supposed to scrutinize it but they are in the minority.
Just like Ningi they can vote for your suspension. The vote will pass because the PDP are less in the chambers.

The president submitted a budget to the tune of N27.5 trillion and the National Assembly, in its wisdom, increased it to N28.7 trillion

Bro senate has the power to adjust budget if it deems fit.
Even in the US.
the problem there is that we need an opposition in that chambers the ruling party stands with the president then the opposition stands with the people.

But giving old senators extra 500 million for constituency projects is not right.

What happens to the new senators?

Why would they not be aware? What is their major duty there. Budget is the main thing discussed there. Guy no dey give those guys excuses.

In fact the budget is shared to every senator in hard copy to read.
