An investigative journalist, PIDOMNIGERIA has asserted that the Nigerian army appeared to have had another motive than the peacemaking mission intended.
On Friday, a Lieutenant Colonel, two Majors, one Captain and 12 soldiers were reportedly killed in two warring communities in Delta State.

The Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, confirmed the incident.

The soldiers were on a rescue mission to Okuama community to free a hostage, one Mr. Anthony Aboh, allegedly abducted over the lingering land dispute between Okuama and Okoloba communities when they were ambushed and killed.

Gusau said: “The troops of 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, while on a peace mission to Okuoma community in Bomadi LGA of Delta State, were surrounded by some community youths and killed on Thursday, 14 March 2024.

“The unfortunate incident occurred when the troops responded to a distress call after the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities both in Delta State.

“The reinforcement team led by the Commanding Officer was also attacked, leading to the death of the Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain and 12 Soldiers.

However, in a discovery, Pidomnigeria claims the Nigerian Army forcefully wanted to arrest three high chiefs and did not necessarily intend for peacemaking.

Sharing his revelation on X, he shared some visuals of alleged victims and wrote,

“Nobody is justifying the death of our able bodied soldiers, but why not tell Nigerians the truth, rather than use the biased western media to drive home propaganda and wicked narrative, in order to justify your actions.

The Nigerian Army claimed that they went to Okuama community for peacekeeping mission.
But you wanted to forcefully arrest 3 high chiefs, the community said nope and stood their grounds. What did you do next. Your men opened fire on innocent villagers, injuring well over 500 of them, and killing many. Both old, fragile, women and children were amongst the casualties. But nobody is telling their story, or listening to their plight. After attacking first, you all entered your boats and left.

“As you were leaving, you all were ambushed by 9 speedboats filled with militants. They were the ones who killed our gallant soldiers. Not innocent old men and women who can not operate hunters gun. People who are already injured, bruised and morning their loved ones after your 14th march unprovoked attack on them.”

I knew that something is fishy when the news came up..

There's no way community youths will ambush and kill 22 soldiers that came for peace talk, the story didn't add up at all..

People from that community should tell their own story of what really happened..

The lying military and their federal government counterpart will lie to the public just to justify their atrocities..

More like their claimed clash with armless shia worshipers and ipob protesters in 2015/2019..

I have never believed their stories for a day..

I wonder how the NA Hq feel about their men being called gallant for shooting at old folk and innocent kids, but when repaid in their own coin fall short of gallantry. How can you go for peacekeeping and end up taking away the peace of everyone there?? Something stinks about the army’s narrative.😎

That zone is on red again. All those that remember the days of Abacha during Ijaw Itsekiri fights will never forget what they see. Destructions everywhere. Early days of Obasanjo government, east west road became impassable. We were doing five hours Warri Portharcourt by going through Ozoro Onitsha Owerri road until troops entered Odi. Boys keeps dying. Why?

I was in Sapele (Delta) during that time... The youths then, till this day, I have not seen human being like them (I am sure most of them didn't reach old age due to their violent lifestyle)...

But one thing I know for a fact is; if you do not belong to any of the two ethnic group at war, they let you pass.

That's what they thought before Kaiama declaration. I physically saw deadly machines moved with low bed articulated trucks by the military around Owerri roads before Odi was taking back from ijaw militant.

First of all, kidnapping under any guise is illegal.
Since the primary report was that of kidnapping, it is even surprising that
the army did not go with full force the first time around.

Now, all the high chiefs are persona non-grata.
They no longer have a home or village and will remain on the run indefinitely
until arrested.

Taking stupid decisions for temporary gains is never a wise move.

I am interested in the 500 villages who were allegedly shot at.
