Olawale Rasheed: Diary of serial blackmailer, liar

By Olayiwola Bello

The name, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, appears synonymous with lies and misinformation. Right from his days as a journalist, his colleagues know him as "agbelero (filing of story without verification). As an employee of the Nigerian Tribune, he misled the newspaper on so many occasions, with some landing the newspaper in court cases.

As a journalist in Abuja, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, is well known when it comes to blackmail journalism.

It was this trait that he carried along with him to Osun where he dishes out lies and misinformation at will. In fact, he brazenly told journalists recently that he had no apologies for dishing out lies. Justifying his position, Mallam Olawale Rasheed was quoted to have said "if they lie against us, we will lie against them too."

He is the first spokesperson in the history of Osun, to be called out as a liar by professional colleagues and CSOs. He lied that the former administration employed 12, 000 workers. Till date, he is yet to provide evidence to back the claim. During the Eid day debacle involving his boss and the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, rather than providing information about what transpired, Mallam lied that it was an assassination attempt against the governor of the state.

When the governor traveled recently for medical reasons, Mallam Olawale Rasheed lied that he went to woo investors, only for the governor to admit on a radio interview that he went on a medical tourism.

Perhaps, his date with investigators, over the false publication against an innocent citizen of Osun, will further expose him for who he is. At any rate, his boss has charged him to reflect on his life and chart a new path.

In a birthday message to him recently, the governor said among other things that "as a wake up call, I want to remind you, that, birthdays are occasions to take a stock of the past and present of ones (sic) journey through life so as to put one in a good stead to make an informed decision into the future.

"Rasheed, I challenge you, therefore, not to get carried away by the euphoria of todayโ€™s occasion but as another opportunity to make an informed decision for a greater and better life style in the coming years."

If the governor did not know him well, he wouldn't have asked him to think about going for a better lifestyle. The mere fact that the statement was signed by Hon. Kolapo Alimi, on behalf of the governor, speaks volumes. It took the intervention of Dr. Deji Adeleke and the governor to resolve the 'wahala' between Alimi and Rasheed. Will Mallam Olawale Rasheed ever change?

In the spirit of Ramadan, we pray for the loquacious lying machine to turn a new leaf.

It is unsurprising that you made this post you called โ€˜diaryโ€™ without a single evidence to back your claim. This piece has a beautiful source we already know but bring a coward that he is will never come out openly. Tell him that he can continue on this frivolous journey but the good name that Mallam Olawale has built for himself in the journalistic profession and currently as the Spokesperson to Governor Adeleke will continue to speak for him.

It is not surprising that the author of this concoction choose to hide, because it is nothing to be proud for. What the lies and distortions against Mallam Olawale Rasheed has shown so far is that is pen of truth and logic is daily tearing out the foundation of lies and damages done by the ruinous elements of yesterday. The record of Mallam Olawale Rasheed with the Nigerian Tribune is as clear and day and that was why he made great career progress in his over 20 years service with the platform. It is those cooking lies about him that are finding it hard to point to any noticeable achievements in their career, having to kowtow to the whims and caprices of failed politicians.

This falsehood made about Mallam Olawale Rasheed can only be considered as evidence of blackmail since they are opinions and personal judgments made by anonymous individuals who lacks the temerity and audacity to make his identity known. It is important to note that anyone can make unsubstantiated claims or accusations against someone else, but that does not automatically make them true.

Furthermore, the ghost writer has failed to provide any concrete evidence or verifiable sources to support its claims about Mallam Olawale Rasheed's alleged lies and misinformation.

Therefore, these are just mere personal attacks and attempts to discredit Mallam Olawale Rasheed but it cannot fly. Personal attacks do not contribute to a constructive discussion or debunking of information, but rather aim to discredit an individual's character.

Let me also add that it is worth noting that Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor's spokesperson and Barrister Kolapo Alimi, the Honorable Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, share a strong friendship and maintain a productive working relationship. Their dedication is evident in their shared commitment to advancing the prosperity and growth of Osun State under the able leadership of Senator (Dr) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

Rumours are carried by enemies, spread by ignorants and accepted by fools without enquiries.

Dear Anonymous writer, it is unfortunate that the man you write this falsehood against is many miles ahead of you and your paymasters. His records are there for all to see in his previous assignments both in the public sector and private sector. So this falsehood you're peddling around doesn't even have any weight. I want to believe if you are asked to come and defend this in court, you will not call it witch-hunt. My only advice to you is to do something better with your little brain rather than this.
