First Lady Remi Tinubu has brought attention to a concerning trend: "Japa," she said, "Nigerians abroad are reportedly taking on jobs they previously refused to do back home". This phenomenon, often referred to as "Japa" - a slang term used when someone leaves Nigeria for opportunities elsewhere - has raised questions about the country's employment landscape and the aspirations of its citizens.

In a recent interview, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the challenges faced by Nigerians who migrate to other countries in search of better opportunities. She emphasized that many find themselves working in roles they once deemed undesirable or menial when living in Nigeria.

"We have seen a significant number of our citizens leaving the country in search of greener pastures. However, it is disheartening to note that some of these individuals, who refused certain jobs here, are now taking on those same roles in foreign countries," Mrs. Tinubu stated.

Well, that's what you get when the recipient nation discovers that (despite it's teaming human and capital resources) our biggest undoing has been the government and then the people themselves.
Moreso, there's more dignity in the labor of an immigrant out there than he gets back in his homeland, doing the same job, and the pay is even better.
.. it's just a natural progression.

Mrs. Tinubus concerns are valid, and its time for Nigerians to come back and contribute to the growth of our nation instead of taking jobs abroad.
