Wilson Oruma
The former Super Eagles midfielder suffered from a mental disorder for six years after falling victim to fraud by a Lagos-based pastor and fake oil businessmen. Oruma, who led Nigeria's U-17 team to victory in the 1993 World Cup in Japan, enjoyed a successful career with clubs like RC Lens, Sochaux Marseille, and others, amassing wealth in the process.
Despite his talent, Oruma often played second fiddle to Austin Jay Jay Okocha in the Super Eagles, only featuring prominently when Okocha was unavailable. However, reports indicate that he has since regained mental stability and has been offered a role by the Nigeria Football Federation during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
