Tunde Osifowokan, the manager of a poultry farm who was abducted from his farm in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State was rescued on Monday early Thursday morning in an operation by the police in which five of his abductors were shot dead.

Osifowokan was rescued at about 4 a.m. on Thursday by operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit unit of Ogun Police Command in Odogbolu forest along the Sagamu-Benin expressway.

“The kidnappers engaged the squad in a fierce gun battle during which five of them out of about eight were neutralized while the rest escaped with bullet wounds, Ogun Police Command Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Alamutu told journalists in Abeokuta on Thursday.

According to him, the police had been trailing the kidnappers since they abducted the farm manager was reported.

” At about 4a.m. on Thursday morning, our anti-kidnapping unit stormed the kidnappers hideout in Odogbolu forest along Sagamu-Benin express way.

“The kidnappers engaged the squad in a fierce gun battle during which five of them out of about eight were neutralised while the rest escaped with bullet wounds.

” Exhibits recovered from the dead among the kidnappers are cash suspected to be part of the ransom the kidnappers had collected.

“Other exhibits are one sword, cellphones, substances suspected to be hard drugs, charms, empty shells of AK47 riffle and sticks,” he said.

Alamutu said Osifowokan was rescued unhurt, saying that the corpses of the kidnappers had been deposited at the morgue of a General Hospital .

The commissioner said that the command had intensified efforts to bring all the fleeing suspects to book .

He warned that criminals hellbent on testing the power of the police in the state would have themselves to blame.

Each state must setup forest guards with enough arms and ammunition to comb the forests, cos these people won't stop and their aim is to cripple agriculture and continue kidnapping people for ransom...

Buhari's pro-Fulani sentiments is the reason insecurity thrived so much... He took Nigeria 50 years back!

Under Bubu, the police will advise the victims family to pay the ransom. There is a new Sheriff in town who doesn't pay ransom. The police got the message and are dealing with the blood suckers wotowoto....

In the north, east, west, and south.....the herdsmen will get the message by fire by force.....so people can return to the farm.....

No arrest, shoot kidnappers at sight. Pronto.

Uniform men are trying their best with limited weapons and resources but Ijaw youths went on a spray killing them they want South to be like the North. Can't state governors declared people living in th forest shot at sight?

Thanks to the NPF!

May God continue to protect our securities men that sacrifice their time and life for us to enjoy peace

Since Tinubu enter insecurity is reducing in the southern part of Nigeria, if the northerners won't harbour these criminals among them they will also enjoy the peace

We can't continue spending money on insecurities when there are pressing needs to be done, to put us on the map of developed nation
