While owning a car is not ripe for you.

You might be wishing or dreaming of owning a car and you cant wait any further. there is nothing wrong with wishful thinking and after-all everyone enjoys the comforts that comes with driving a car.

But there are some things no one will tells you. And it’s called car maintenance…

proper maintenance of your car comes with a price and if it’s your first time there are some challenges you will face that will cause you to regret owning a car. This thread is not to discourage you but to guard you.

Here are some of the expenses you can’t run away from.

1, Driver license 30k every 3 years
2, Vehicle particular 35k-50k every year
3, Oil change 20k to 50k every 2-3 months
4, Transmission fluid 30k - 90k yearly
5, Fueling minimum of 20k-200k every week
6, car washing 3k-8k weekly
7, Unplanned expenses either minor or major, e.g accidents ( minor or major), tyre replacement, gear or engine failure, parts and mechanic expenses, accessories, repaint, interior and exterior mentainace Can run into 500k - 5m yearly.

So you better be calming down. Just imagine the resources that will go into that within a year?

When someone bought a car their scarce resource will be diverted to the car. Clothes, building projects and family will feel the impacts as resources are split or diverted. When you sold a car you are going to feel relief with excess funds in reserve from car expenses during that period, only that you will lose the comfort.

You better be financially strong and grounded before owning a car.

And to add to it no one will listen to you when you ask for money. Also People assumed you are rich in this part of the world once you bought a car. Lastly Your landlady or landlord will increase your rent and won’t heard any stories from you. Even your brothers when hate you that you bought a car and you didn’t remember them. You will be on your own.

I used to have a similar perspective until I bought my car. The convenience it brings, especially for families with children, outweighs the extra expenses. The key is to invest in a reliable car, like Hondas or Toyotas. For maintenance, budget around 25k for oil changes (using Mobil 2000 semi-synthetic) every 4 months, 40k for gear oil changes every 3 years, 3k for windshield wiper blade replacements annually, 50k for new tires (approximately 13k each) every 2 years, 10k for coolant replacement every 3 years (using Total Cooltech Coolant), and 15k for brake pad replacements every 2 years. You can save money by washing the car yourself. Surprisingly, with proper planning, these expenses can be managed without significantly impacting your standard of living after purchasing the car.

As long as u earn continuously, u are good to go. If your money is a one time thing like one big transaction and that’s it, stay away from owning a car

Nah, this is mostly over exaggerated, As a single guy, U could probably manage without a car.....But as married man with family, better do urself a favour & get even a small one.

The kind of money you would pay in transport costs, begging people for favors in case of emergencies etc..ain't worth it. No need for something fancy or expensive. just get what would make ur live easier.
