Obaseki/Shaibu: The Journey of Betrayal

Scene: 4

As the sun set on the horizon and the time for the main Edo State Governorship election drew near, the atmosphere in Edo was fraught with tension and intrigue. The Legacy Group, led by the PDP South-South National Vice Chairman, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, rallied behind Governor Obaseki's re-election campaign. Their passion and dedication to the cause were unmatched, as they crisscrossed the state, spreading their message of hope and progress.

However, amidst the chaos of political maneuvering, a shadow loomed over the once-united front. Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, stood tall as a major player in Governor Obaseki's re-election bid. Wike had thrown his weight behind Obaseki, hoping to solidify their alliance and secure the Governor's support for his presidential ambition in the future.

Yet, as fate would have it, betrayal reared its ugly head once more. In a shocking turn of events, Governor Obaseki made a decision that would forever change the course of their relationship. Instead of standing by Wike and supporting his presidential aspirations, Obaseki chose to throw his weight behind the former Vice president, Alhaji, Atiku Abubakar, a move that left Wike feeling blindsided and betrayed.

The once-promising alliance between Obaseki and Wike crumbled under the weight of political ambition and personal agendas. As the dust settled and the results of the election were announced, one thing became clear: in the game of politics, loyalty is a fleeting commodity, and betrayal knows no bounds.

As the dust settled on the Edo Governorship election and Governor Obaseki emerged victorious, the time had come to form his executive cabinets. However, the process was again fraught with tension and uncertainty. Obaseki, true to his style, waited until the Supreme Court judgment upheld his certificate forgery case and election results before making any moves.

It was decided that a balance would be struck in the appointment of executives, with both the Legacy Group and the new PDP members getting a fair share of positions. Yet, when the time came, Obaseki once again surprised everyone by going against the agreement. He appointed his allies and left the Legacy Group members with nothing but disappointment and resentment.

Despite this betrayal, the Legacy Group chose to rise above the bitterness and forgive. They set their sights on the future, with hopeful eyes on the Edo 2024 Governorship elections. Determined to overcome the setbacks and challenges they faced, they vowed to work together and fight for a better Edo, united in their quest for justice and progress.

And so, as the chapters of Edo's political saga unfolded, the legacy of betrayal and forgiveness intertwined, shaping the path towards a new chapter of hope and resilience. Amidst the trials and tribulations, the people of Edo stood strong, guided by the unwavering belief that their voices would be heard, and their dreams of a brighter tomorrow would one day come to fruition.

In another twist of fate, Governor Obaseki found himself facing yet another opportunity to settle the disagreements with the Legacy Group. An agreement had been reached in a meeting in Abuja where it was decided that the Legacy PDP and Obaseki's group would share the national, state, and local government elective positions.

To ensure a fair distribution of the positions, it was decided that Shaibu and Chief Dan Osi Orbih would be tasked with allocating the roles. However, when Obaseki, who had previously agreed to this formula in Abuja, arrived in Benin, he went back on his word and turned his back against the agreement made. This happened in the meeting held at commercial meeting avenue, Benin City before the very eyes of some legacy group members like; senator Clifford Ordia Senator Matthew Irhohide, the late AIT founder and CEO, Chief Dokpesi and many others.

The atmosphere in the meeting was tense as Obaseki's betrayal left the Legacy Group members feeling disheartened and betrayed once again. Despite their hopes for reconciliation and unity, the broken promises only deepened the rift between the factions.

As the political drama continued to unfold, the legacy of broken agreements and unfulfilled promises cast a shadow over the once-promising alliance. The power struggles and conflicting ambitions threatened to tear apart the very fabric of unity and trust that they had hoped to build.

In the heart of this political turmoil, the story of Governor Obaseki and the Legacy Group continued to unfold, with each chapter adding new layers of betrayal and disappointment. The road to reconciliation seemed long and arduous, but the resilient spirit of the people kept their hopes alive, believing that someday, peace and harmony would prevail in Edo.

But what happened next will shock you...
Don't get tired reading the drama as I take you to the end.
