This happens only in a corrupt system. If the lectures are men of integrity who don't take bribes, the issue of attempting to bribe would not have come.

Well, like I have always said; The Christ life is the best life. No one truly in Christ will take or collect bribe. And no one truly in Christ will beat a colleague talk more of killing.

Bribe for grade?.... Medical student?.... How did he get the admission?.... How did he passed his waec?.... He would have turned out to be a quack doctor..... God just saved one future patient that would have become victims of quackness.

Anyways.... RIP

But will the wicked lecturer allow somebody to pass, even if he scores 95? That’s the other troublesome angle.

Does it mean that unijos medical student bribe their way in medical school?
Northern and mediocrity

It is not only in the north o.

Its scary that in something as serious as Medical School Exams, Professors of Medicine allow their children and their friends to cheat.

I was a Medical Student at UI Med School many years ago and 20% of my class cheated to pass exams in a situation where people who are repeating decide to do division of labour and instead of studying every thing they decide to study just upper limb and someone else studies lower limb, thorax etc, etc and then they sit at the back of the class and compare notes and end up scoring 100%.

This is apart from the children of Professors of Medicine who were being given preferential treatment in the exam hall (e.g. coming too late for an exam and instead of disqualifying her, the invigilator (a lecturer who was taught in med school by the girls father who is a Prof of medicine) kept repeating to our hearing "where is the she that must be obeyed" until the Profs daughter showed up more than an hour late for the exam.

And then there is the case of the son of a Prof of medicine in my class who used to see the real exam questions before the exam date and then circulate them to his inner circle and they all end up scoring 100% in the exam.

No wonder there are so many heartless killer doctors in Nigeria.

I eventually had enough and when I decided to pull out of Med school after 4 years, my mum took me to a well known Bishop who laid hands on me and when he saw that I did not change my mind, he promptly asked me if I was on drugs and I answered in the negative.

So sad.

Now the life of the bribe giver and his co-travellers are in ruins. First they will suffer pyscologically, physically and financially. They will no longer be doctors, which feat they could not have attained with their bribes, in the first place.

Very stupid and greedy young men.

One wonders how some people get into universities and achieve their results with bribes. No wonder we have horrible political leaders today.

If you want to know the quality of youths we produce as scholars, watch this Jojofalani shows across campuses where he ask basi questions. Very ridiculous dead brain students, especially in the South-South.

Everything in this country is upsidedown. Don't you know that in our institutions of higher learning we have two (2) categories of scholars. These are:-
(1) Academic scholars and
(2) Financial scholars aka blocking gurus.
The dead young medical student was an agent who does blocking. So sad that both students will never realize their dream of becoming doctors. Medical students love blocking MBBS exams

Sadly, everyone of them involved in it will never realize their dreams. Did they truly aspire to become medical doctors in the future? What is the essence of using money to “settle” and then not being able to defend your degree upon qualification as medical doctors? No wonder we have horrible doctors who know absolutely nothing about their medical practices and attending to sick people.

Anyway, who is to blame? A lot of them have rich and influential parents, who either help them secure jobs upon graduation, or open their private practices.

It’s very sad indeed bro.

Why bribe if you read and prepare for your exams? Imagine a medical student bribing his way to earn good grades, the resultant effects would be QUACK DOCTOR. Which way Nigeria?

Your last paragraph made me laugh.

In all, what then is the essence of making all the efforts to achieve your dream, when right in your presence, your self motivation is destroyed by the very people that you trust to lead you in that journey?

I am a professor of medicine and my 5 children are medical doctors? From your words, we can deduce that potentially the whole 5 children succeeded by cheating.

I continue to wonder why medical students cheat at exams. Many years ago, there was a young medical graduate who was asked to prescribe drugs for malaria by my uncle’s wife who was feverish. We were all proud of this young lady, until we found that she did not know what drugs to prescribe. We thought she was joking, by found that she did not have the idea.

Unfortunately the best medical students and doctors do not get into positions.

It is so sad.

I am 30000.
I know nothing about his death Abdul the bull, genius and generous. I was framed, defamed and I deemed it fit to divulge this detailed info filled with hatred and jealousy of a great mind not minding it leads. Leaders are true expression of love and sacrifice, Abdul was a true leader. He gave all he had but his mates hated him for no reason. Brilliant and handsome, girls flock around him for no reason, he was loved but jealousy against him ended him. Bribe? Lol..... Is this what was said to have led to his death? Noooooo.... There was more!!!. North!!!! O north? Why the hate against your own? Abdul ...... forgive!!! Even after death, you were framed! Forgive! I wish you weren't a victim,Forgive!! You weren't the first but your powerful blood couldn't be shut, Forgive!!!

Don't give up. Just do your best and leave the rest but have at the back of your mind that it is vain to put your trust in man as any human can spectacularly disappoint you when you least expect.

When I read about a qualified doctor burning down a colleagues private clinic in Ondo State thus killing him just because they were competing for some post in the Nigerian Medical Association in their state, I just shake my head.

If you can't trust a Doctor, who then can you trust.

Far from it. Not every Profs child in my set cheated and I know of only that 1 chap who used to see exam questions before the exam date. The funny thing is that this classmate of mine would still have passed the exams without seeing the questions before hand because he was extremely hardwoking but I doubt if he and his crew would have consistently scored 100% in those MCQ exams without the unfair advantage his Dad by commission or omission allowed him to have.

Having said that, another 20% of my class cheated to pass if they were on the verge of being kicked out of Med School for failing a class more than once and there was another classmate whose Dad was also a Prof of Medicine who got asked to leave Med School for failing the same class twice. So, it wasn't all of my classmates whose Dads were Profs who cheated in exams.

I continue to wonder why medical students cheat at exams. Many years ago, there was a young medical graduate who was asked to prescribe drugs for malaria by my uncle’s wife who was feverish. We were all proud of this young lady, until we found that she did not know what drugs to prescribe.

Things have degenerated in Nigerian Medical schools to the extent that the following stories will show :-

1. There is currently a Senior Doctor who used to work at UCH and was in charge of mentoring or supervising young Medical Students. This Doctor allegedly lured one of the students to a hotel in Ibadan in the guise of helping her prepare for an impending exam. He then allegedly proceeded to forcefully defile her by her own public account and she even publicly named the offending Doctor on the internet for the whole world to see.

UCH constituted a panel, called the girl to give her account and the female panel members (themselves senior doctors at UCH) proceeded to gaslight the girl by asking her to state her body count and asked her why she did not wear underwear to a meeting with a man.

Suffice it to say that the panel members sided with their colleague and UCH gave the accused Doctor a soft landing by allowing him to resign and they must have given him a good reference because he immediately left Nigeria for the UK and is now practicing Medicine in the UK. I pity his new patients and medical students he comes into contact with if all that young medical student said about him are true. The BRAVE young lady stuck to her studies and will be qualifying as a Medical Doctor from UCH in a matter of months.

2. I met a not yet successful politician at a friends restaurant in Lagos more than 15 years ago. We got talking and the guy said he has bedded 2 female final year medical students in the same room before and the females saw no big deal in it. I'm guessing that they must have slept their way through their Med School lecturers to get as far as final year of Med School.

3. The one that is scariest is when more than 10 years ago, newspapers carried the story of a female medical Doctor who was arrested at an ungodly hour skimpily dressed and soliciting for "customers" in one of the red light districts in Abuja. It was some of her colleagues who went to plead with the task force and bail her 'cos she was supposed to be on call in the hospital the next morning. Imagine a medical doctor still doing prostitution on the streets of Abuja at night ?? Things dey happen for Nigeria.

Unfortunately the best medical students and doctors do not get into positions.

That's the anomaly we have in Nigeria where from top to bottom the best of us have been relegated to the background whilst the more criminally minded who see themselves as being above ANY rule or law get parachuted to the top by the criminals in power.

But is such a situation sustainable ? How long before it implodes ??

This same thing happened to me like 3 years ago; I presented with a simple open-and-shut case of malaria but the doctor prescribed a confused cocktail of antibiotics and vitamins that bore no relevance and made me even more sick.

I couldn’t believe it, I don’t even like going to the hospital again.
