Akoko Edo has never been governor or deputy governor for the longest of time, not even for two days, this act certainly would change the historical narrative that an Akoko Edo person was deputy governor for over half a year, you cannot wish it away, they might likely not get close to that position for the next 30 years or more. It is a significant mark for them, you can’t wish it away or underestimate it, you cannot authoritatively determine if it will not sway vote, from the look of things, it certainly will. A party willing to win election in Edo state will not pick an Akoko Edo person as the governor or deputy. For Obaseki to quickly use this impeachment scheme to get them to be a part of government shows he is smart and knows what he is doing.

wow, there are some great History Lessons here, thanks so much. My late Dad used to have a friend from Igarra named Ayodele as his surname and he speaks Yoruba so fluently, well over 30 years ago. I've always wondered at this mystery how these folks bear yoruba names all over there. No one has explained this to me like you just did.

Yoruba is spoken all over the Akokos but they still have their language. When a Yoruba man from Isua or Arigidi in Ondo state speaks his local dialect no Yoruba man from another part of the Oduduwa land will understand. Akoko people have a language different from the normal Yoruba that we are all used to

Ondo and Edo shared so much in their dialect co-occurrence with their typical dialect in their villages and adopted Yoruba as a general means of communication or co-understating afterward that everyone goes back to his/her indigenous dialect in their respective communities.
