Yakubu Aiyebeni Gives Jude Aneke A Cash Gift Of $1,000 by tosinaded(m): 5:54pm On Nov 18, 2011 |
Out of favour Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyebeni has given Jude Aneke a cash gift of $1,000. The Blackburn Rovers ace also gave a pair of boots to the Nigeria Premier League hotshot, who has set a new record. Aneke, who plies his trade for Kaduna United, scored a record 20 goals this past season. In doing so, he cosigned the 18-goal mark set by Ahmed Musa the previous season, and a 17-goal record set by Ishaya Jatau in 1990 to history books. ‘The Yak’ himself was also a top scorer in the 1999 season for Julius Berger of Lagos with 9 goals and has taken this step to encourage players who play in the domestic league. Aneke has been included in the squad of the Nigeria Olympc team for next week’s final Olympic qualifying tournament in Morocco but made his full international debut against Zambia on Tuesday. http://dailypost.com.ng/2011/11/18/yakubu-aiyebeni-gives-jude-aneke-a-cash-gift-of-1000/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=yakubu-aiyebeni-gives-jude-aneke-a-cash-gift-of-1000

Fellow Nigerians the chap is tactfully asking for your mercy. Promoting the league's hotshot showing he still has the country in mind and respects quality goal poaching so, em, em, em, em, I mean will you consider him for a recall to the Eagles. *runs out before the roof falls in* |

I commend his doings. Even though its little, it could definitely come in handy for the recipient. I think other financially capable foreign based SE should follow suit. |

@dipo+, you think $1000 dollars is pittance in the current financial climate? Yak is just one of several other europe-based nigerian soccer players, how much did the rest of them give? You guys get carried away by these players' wages forgetting that they pay a whopping 40% as taxes. |

GOOD GESTURE i don't think it is small because he worked for his money besides i am sure there are other things he does that we don't hear. as a nigerian you can't escape that but not really newsworthy . i know someone who earns less in a year than yak makes in a week who kits (boots balls etc )his local team and does not get in the news. some nigerians can be generous when they belleful. |

The yak made a nice gesture regardless what his motive may be. I doubt if the NFL gave the lad a dime, they only wrote his name in the history books. Na dat him go chop? |

Thats good, $1000 is a big money to give out just like that, most specially in a country where over 70% are living on less that $2 a day. |

Well, the NPL awarded Ibrahim Ajani one of the goals in Sunshine's 2-2 draw away at Ocean Boys which also puts him on 20 goals. At the moment, the top scorer is unknown. Great gesture from the Yak. Other internationals should follow suit. Some Nigerian journalists; Toyin Ibitoye and Mumuni Alao and some other guys had earlier raised about 200K for the top scorer. |
