Amotekun's Activities In Ondo State Need To Be Investigated By Efcc by ajparo(m): 2:26pm On Apr 22
In his reaction to the recent development in Ondo State, a business mogul and a Prince of the ancient city of Ondo Prince Adekunle Adeya a. k. a  Kunle Omo Alhaja addressed newsmen at Akure, the state capital.

Adeya noted that In recent times, there have been debates for state or regional policing. An idea which should naturally fly in the interest of the masses, but in a twist of fate and in the most ironical way the masses are in a quiamire  because their interests are already being trampled upon which if care is not taken could be a foretaste of what is to come if and when the national assembly passed the bill regarding state Police.

Going by his exposure on how things are done in the western world,Adeya said 'In a more sane society, established security apparatus like Amotekun with the resources in their disposal ought to have estaminated kidnapping or at least reduce it to its nearest minimum. It is appalling to note that the Ondo State chapter of Amotekun which ought to champion the restoration of security and sanity in the south west has engrossed itself in one fiasco or the other.'

He went further to state that when the late talk and do governor - Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu spearheaded the creation and the functionality of Amotekun,it was with good intentions. But the aim is gradually being defeated as the Amotekun force which was originally meant to be at the borders of towns in the state and on the highways have their vehicles stationed across major metropolises in Ondo state doing God knows what!

As if that was not enough, the Amotekun security  outfit headed by Adetunji Adeleye have now taken upon themselves the work of the police force. Members of the force now seize motor cycles and exotic cars at will. They neither hand them over to police or charge the owners to court, rather they have devised a means by which the owners of the seized cars and motorcycles have to dole out money for them to have their properties back.

According to Adeya, the state chapter got a whooping 800milliion naira from  Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC) for the purpose of securing the facilities and the oil producing communities in the state. Unfortunately, the Amotekun leadership in the state failed to cover its tracks as it can not justify with evidential proofs of adequate security in those communities after the receipt of such a huge amount of money.

It is yet an eye- saw that the innocent men and women at the lowest carde of Amotekun are not being paid the salaries due them. This is an action against all known laws and policies of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, workers are meant to receive their salaries as at when due, irrespective of the status.

The last straw that broke the camel's back is the fact that the apex leadership of Amotekun has carefully perfected a method of paying ghost workers who are not officially enlisted in the force. ' Mr. Adeleye has the penchant of mal-treating his workers and subordinates, not only that, he uses his office to intimidate the good citizens of Ondo State ' , Adeya noted.

It is appropriate for regulatory and correctional institutions like the EFCC to invite the leadership of Amotekun headed by Adetunji Adeleye for questioning.

Similarly,  Prince Adekunle Adeya saluted the prompt action of EFCC on the detention of the former state commissioner of finance Mr. Wale Akintehinwa. He noted that he had called the attention of the commission some weeks ago on a number of  financial managements perpetuated by the commissioner.
However, Adeya said ' Mr. Wale Akintehinwa alone didn't orchestrate the atrocities, the likes of Engineer Raimi Aminu of  infrastructure, lands and housing commissioner in the administration of the late Governor of the state, and the former governor 's son Mr. Babajide Akeredolu should be invited '
