I know that some people will argue that you cannot be calling for secession when your son is president. The truth is that presidency only benefits just a few but a working country benefits everyone. If we cannot balkanize this country, it should be restructured so it can work for all.

The long failed British colonial contraption called Nigeria has never worked since 1960 to this day

Yet some people are surprised that some people want to exit that failure

Nobody is unsettled here.

Just a few misguided fellows and ladies.

If anything, people feel sorry for the trouble their actions will get them into.

Nothing more than that.

The overwhelming majority of people all over the South want serious changes in how the machinery of the Nigerian state works. But, any call for separation has no traction at all in the SW.

How do you even categorise this as fake news. Are you now speaking for everyone in yoruba land. You see one thing you yoruba don't believe in is karma that thing you wish others will surely get back to you

But other schools of thought said the agitation might have been propelled by the agitation for restructuring and to pass a message to the president to fast-track the process of restructuring.

Political Science teacher Prof. Gbade Ojo said the renewed agitation has nothing to do with the fact that a Yoruba man is in the saddle.

He said an average Yoruba man is uncomfortable with the existing federal arrangement, so taking up arms to take over government in the name of Yoruba nation does not make sense.

According to him, the agitators had made a statement about the need for restructuring of the country. He however said the lesson of the agitation is for the government to be more committed to the project of restructuring.

“They have made a statement and the statement is that Yorubas are agitating and the issue of a Yoruba man being president is meaningless. Their own desire is a kind of restructuring which Tinubu has promised but he cannot go all hog to pursue restructuring primarily because of his second term.

“The agitation may be uncalled for in terms of violence but the issue is that the Yorubas are gradually becoming uncomfortable with the federal arrangement. The federal character principle is observed in abeyance. The Federal Character Commission is not monitoring anything. Recruitment is not being supervised. The same set of people from the same ethnic group or the same religion may be recruited at a go in an agency or parastatal or organisation that claims to be federal including federal universities,” he added.

Instead of only clamping down on the agitators, the university don challenged governments at the federal and state levels to make life comfortable for the people.

“Salaries have not been increased for over a year now after the subsidy was removed. The state of the economy is bad. The Oodua states should demonstrate more commitment in taking care of the people,” he said.

Another Professor of Political Science, Sylvester Odion also stated that the renewed agitation was to pass a message of restructuring to the president.

“It is not about a Yoruba man occupying the presidency, it is about restructuring the country. No indication yet that Tinubu will pursue that cause,” he said.

But analysts say the authorities in the South-West must go beyond clamping down on the perpetrators to find out the motive behind the renewed agitation.

I laighed when I saw Igbos clamouring for Military to take power from PBAT, a Yoruba man through coup.. like they expect over 80 million Yorubas including those in the diaspora to just sit down, fold their arms and do nothing. They feel they'll sit down comfortably in Lagos and other parts of Yorubaland and be doing their business while pretending as if all is well.

To tell you the truth, if Hausa/Fulani conduct military coup today, they will definitely succeed. Do you expect SS,SE or middle belt to come to your rescue? That when you will know the full meaning of OYO. You have succeeded in making enemy with your Southern brothers.

The problem with the Yorubas are the oyo and osun people who always like to take things into their own hands outside the rest of the Yorubaland.

There is so much divide among the Yorubas over leadership struggle and positions.

Although it is not akin to their own tribe, instead of joining hands together to achieve a progressive and conclusive success,it's always someone betraying or selling out the ideas or taking matters into their own hands and putting the other Yorubas into dereliction and division of purpose.

until, the Yorubas see themselves inside of themselves and put aside all their state egos, pride, domineering attitude , internal strife and political disagreements then can they move forward!
Aside from that, there is no way they can move forward in the agitation of oduduwa republic because each state also has its own flaws.

The ogun state people believe they are to always be the tribe championing presidential seats and powers when the power rotates to the southwest.

osun people believe they are the leaders of the Yoruba lands.
They are also not straightforward with other tribes and always sell out or betray other Yorubas

Oyo people are not straightforward and always tell partly truth among themselves.
There is no historical forgiveness or putting aside differences

The Ondo are always hard hearted but they stand for the truth and always see that it is character of a person that matter most before dealing with them.

Ekiti who are nation builders among themselves and are well read are also hard hearted and stubborn.

All what I have quoted here are now like colors fading away because of the current political structure and economic situation in the country.

The foundation that many of the Yoruba leader layed have become a trouble for. the new upcoming generation who want to blend in as they have lost historical and cultural principles which are good for unity, peace and progress.
what we are now seeing is selfishness, bitterness, unforgiveness, hatred and wickedness.

it will always hinder the Yoruba people until they drop cultures that always hinder development both socially, physically, economically and spiritually.
if not they will continue in their cycle of divisions, envy, hate, malice, strife , bitterness and unforgiveness all bad ills that have relegated the true spirit and progress of the Yoruba land.
There is nothing potent about culture and tradition as long as it is not bringing progress.
Most cultural and ancient structures that have been abandoned or kept are kept for nothing if there is no development.

if they can't see themselves and sit down and iron out issues when Nigeria still exist now, it will be hard if Nigeria breaks and these pills continue

Paid agitation. Paid by Tinubu as usual to send signal to his northern critics that Yoruba will secede from Nigeria if Tinubu's government is sabotaged.
Tinubu sponsored same Yoruba Nation agitators before the 2023 General elections as Plan B in case Buhari refused to hand power over to Tinubu.
Yoruba Nation agitators even waved flags of Yoruba Nation in front of London Chatham House while Tinubu was speaking inside the House.
Aptly spoken. That is just the truth and I'm sure the north has gotten the signal in full strength. The reason why Nigeria is still one today is because of the west. Two major tribe can not be agitating to go and such nation remains one. All is for 2027 re-election.

Noone or tribe has succeeded in making an enemy ..it simply shows that you have never been friend with your brothers from the outset. Everything your side does is to blame the other side for your ineptitude or failures. And soon y'all will come here and start denigrating the Northerners as if they are nothing. It's better we form a new nation
Other regions should form theirs too
The man who forcefully brought us together for the sake of his own country is dead and almost forgotten.
Nigeria is not a working country. We are just managing.

The problem you have, is that you think it's ONLY Igbo people that are against this terrible government. Most "normal" human beings, that care about their well-being and the well-being of their children (...those that will come after them), have reservations about this administration. Even the Yoruba folks that were shouting PBATs name, prior to elections, are all regretting their decision.

The west can never agitate for secession they don't have the balls to do that. The north is not worried walahi.

From the 60s military force which had more northerners as NCO surrounded the west and nothing happened, is it secession that something will happen?
