The terrific English side and the Spanish giants remain the only unbeaten clubs in Europe. The English side Manchester City is currently enjoying their best season and the best for English league for 47 years. With 12 games played 11 wins and 1 draw the message is clear and has been sent through out of Europe that they are no longer the noisy neighbor as Sir Alex Ferguson once described. After a 1-6 defeat in old Trafford they danger they carry has become more obvious. Manchester city has thus far ended the unbeaten records of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United. They have equally scored has thus far with Edin Dzeko 10, Kun Aguero 10, and Mario Balotelli 9 topping the list of the club top goal scorers. For the manager Roberto Mancini, he would have to build upon his record of always wining a league title whenever his team reaches the top of the table at the 8th Match.

On the other side of Europe, Barcelona has not been on their very best but has avoided any defeat. They sit 3 points behind league leader Real Madrid. Thus far, they have played 12 games won 8 and drawn 4. Barcelona are considered as the best team in the world but they continue to struggle against average teams, the draw against Real Sociedad was most shocking. This poor showing might not be unconnected with the new rotation system and formation Pep Guardiola has adopted this season. Perhaps he might need some idea from Roberto Mancini who has taken similar route and has seen his team gone 5 points ahead of current champions Manchester United. Lionel Messi, David Villa, and Cesc Fàbregas top the list of Barcelona top scorers.

With both teams continuing their unbeaten spree, it wouldn’t be too long before we know if they can hold on to the task. On December 10th of 2011, Barcelona faces Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and that should answer some questions while Manchester city go head to head with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea within the next few weeks and all three of these clubs have the capacity of ending their wining streak.
