Bullshit, what is not good is not good.
Morality is not relative.
Why no one may claim to be a saint here, Th BBA stuff is nothing but rubbish only spiced up with nudity for the depraved minds.
The housemates discussion are not educative at all, infact am sorry to say those folks in there are not intelligent individuals as rightly confirmed by one of the evicted housemates (Max i guess).
My only joy is that, there are quite alot of nairalanders who are against it.
BBA should be stopped with immediate effect.

Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by ritchboi: 9:16pm On Sep 30, 2007
is bb a porn movie?wasnt their nudity in titanic?make all of una SHARAP!
beleive me,no 1 hates dat show more dan i do,i cant stand it!But 4 yal 2 com here n start criticisin it because of nudity is horseshyte.if u dont want ur kids 2 watch it use d parental control feature on ur decoder.our youths k our elders ni,buncha ignorant morons.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 10:10pm On Sep 30, 2007
u cant base ur arguments on the that basis. Titanic is a movie not a TV show; they dont both have the same ratings; Titanis, on DSTV notice, has its time of view. On M-NET, 6am-9am is time for cartoons and other child programmes. As they know that that period is generally for kids. That's abt the same time the shower hour i9s placed;

And dont talk about Parental control please! Do u air a porn movie in the morning and ask for viewers to use PC? WASTE!!
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by monabe: 10:19pm On Sep 30, 2007
what's good everyone? cool
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by Seun(m): 10:21pm On Sep 30, 2007
I don't see any sense in the argument that the parental control feature is not adequate protection for the children. Children cannot subscribe to DSTV. If you have the time to protest against the show, you have the time to activate the parental control feature on your decoder. Don't be technophobic! I don't think it's necessary, but it's not a big deal.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 10:48pm On Sep 30, 2007
U obviously do not kno0w anything about broadcast ethics and rules so, ur post will be as good as deleted!!

What u r saying now is that porn can be shown at family time just because there is PC? U dont even know the use for the PC! It is used to control viewing (not viewership) as concerns a programme or show that is presented at the right time (in accordance to the 'Rating to timing' laws). The PC comes in there should there be a viewer below rating level viewing. In that situation, it isnt the the fault of the presenters if there is viewing of the material by below-rate-age viewers.

So, they wont be blamed when a child watches a porn movie at 2am; just in the event the PC option was not chosen. But showing Porn of any sort during tea time and putting it all on PC is not only a breach of broadcast but unproffessional!!

I really dont expect you to understand this!

Mayb tomorrow u could start a porn nairaland site, Seun with a large caption saying 'this is for aldults only' at the start to act as ur Parental Control grin
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by ritchboi: 8:09am On Oct 01, 2007

uhm,u seem a lil confused.Parental control should ALWAYS b switched on.wether tea time or ogogoro time.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 7:13pm On Oct 01, 2007
Thats for u to protect ur kids and it is imminent for the programmes director to reduce the risk that may come off forgeting to turn it on

Well said.
May I ask, does NBC have control over what is shown in Nigeria by DSTV?
As far as am concerned the concept of the whole programe is neither educating nor edifying.
Although many said it is entertaining, I wonder what is entertaining in the programme.
Anyway, entertainment may be  relative but I repeat Morality is not relative.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 11:11pm On Oct 02, 2007
NBC does not have rights over them at all as concerns aired programmes unfortunately so they decided unanimously what is aired. we will have to live with it all.

DSTV channels are not broadcast channels. They are digitally encrypted private subscription channels. wink

Dears, let's be african for once. You cant separte ur culture and religion from urself. BB Afriica is a BIG SHAME to the african continent and to our Faith(either Christainity, Isam or Traditional Religion.) . God forgive us all AMEN.

Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 8:21pm On Oct 04, 2007
@ Seun

Man! ur ignorance on a lotta things just knows no bounds!! have u checked for the english meaning of broadcast ethics??

Why did DSTV manipulate the powers of NBC's code of ehics to fight stations in lagos that were showing their movies?

When we say broadcast, it does not spell out public or even private so puhleeasse
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by Seun(m): 5:08am On Oct 05, 2007
Worldwide, the rules that apply to free, over-the-air stations (like STV) don't apply to subscription channels.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by olapoint1(m): 12:10pm On Oct 05, 2007
Which children go suck those breast and get Alubarika?I dont even know the meaning of prostitution or who we can call a prostitute.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by Jerie(m): 3:43pm On Oct 05, 2007
THE WHOLE IDEA OF THE BIG BROTHER ORGANISERS IS SIMPLY TO CREATE AN HUMAN ZOO. SO, WHATEVER HAPPENS IN THE ZOO IS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN IN THE HOUSE. IF NOT FOR POVERTY, WHY SHOULD SOMEONE FLAUNT HIS/HER unclothedness JUST FOR A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS HE IS NOT SURE OF GETTING.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by Octupus(f): 9:47pm On Oct 05, 2007
Quite a lot of hypocrisy here and saint playing.

The issue is simple. If you feel offended, please dont watch it.SIMPLE.

Dont come to this site to play the saint pls. Many people sit down to digest and assimilate the Big brother stuff and tolerate ALL the "dirty show",then come here to talk holy.Of course they have to see it all to be able to comment on how explicit it is.Right? If you find it so offensive, switch off immediately so u wont see enough to comment. Please excuse me everybody.Lets discuss something else.

There are many people who by virtue of their conscience will never go to buy or rent an X-rated movie, but because of their level of faith will not mind watching BBA, all we are saying is, BBA is promoting nudity and infact it is a modern ZOO sort of.
It is not a nice programme.
We all have to condem it.
Stop being proud of your low sense of morality. For the fact that pple watch BBA does not mean it is a nice show. No one is playing saint here. Even if there are, methinks it is a kind of do as I say and not as I do, which is far better than outright encouragement of evil.
According to Awolowo, evil prevails in the society when men of good sense of judgment keep silent in the face of an obvious evil.
We shall not keep silent.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 8:28am On Oct 07, 2007
That is not even the point! We all know tha BBA1 was a lot more interesting and nudity level was low! BBN was a lot better even!

@ Seun, in that context then, why was the exposure level of BBN strictly controlled and adhered to as stated in their 'rules of the house'? it is still subscription aint it.

If u have such inclination, why did u take off the nude pictures on this thread??
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by Seun(m): 7:32pm On Oct 07, 2007
The exposure level of BBN is controlled so that prudes like you will be able to watch it.
That is why the shower hour is a separate programme: so you don't have to watch it.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 8:21pm On Oct 07, 2007
Seun!! The shower hour is not seperate o! that means u dont even watch the stuff!! It was just title so cos a lotta Hot clowns like me would identify with it grin

It is actually the start of everyday shoot! U really need to watch it and u will not only be disgusted, u will rip it off your screen like u did the pictures on this thread grin

And if u ccall that controlled then it is insane what u did to those pictures u ripped on this thread or the guys u banned for posting them
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by Octupus(f): 12:14am On Oct 08, 2007
@Miketomi,
It will never cease to amaze me,the level of hypocrisy in Nigeria.I think Nigerians top the rest of the world in the level of hypocrisy displayed in sex related matters.I have been priviledged to visit Australia,Germany and of course, the UK.In all these countries, you find TV stations showing a lot of nudity 24hrs and sometimes, outright pornography!! When one stumbles across them, what do u do? U switch off, period. This world is full of evil. There is no way u can avoid running into sexual evil every where u turn to.Its there even on CNN(Or have u not seen phone intimacy being advertised on CNN?).Its there on the streets and even in the church, what with ladies wearing offensive, skimpy dresses all over the place.Virtually every movie u watch now has a lot of nudity on display.

You need to renew ur mind with the word of God.Then FLEE these sites and programs when u run into them and God will help u.

@Cabali,
Yeah, its possible Seun doesn't watch BBA.Same with me.I dont watch BBA.Why should I? I ought not to have time to sit and watch such stuff. But I dont have to see the level of nudity to make my comments.I still insist that the best way to sooth yourself is to abstain.Dont go and CONSUME everything they throw at you and come here to condemn. If BBA is banned, another worse program will come up,sooner or later. So what do you do?
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by cabali(m): 5:35am On Oct 08, 2007
so u say it is bad but it should stay, yes?

well I don't watch it 4 d fact that it is a lot more boring than the first one. and that don't mean I won't make that comment on it.

I am speaking wrt the housemates and not the audience; the audience can do just fine.
Re: Big Brother Africa: Shower Hour? by lawyerchap(m): 1:13pm On Oct 10, 2007
People, we're talking about a reality show here. R-E-A-L-I-T-Y!!! The nudity we are all complaining about, is it gratuitous nudity? As in, is it needless nudity? The housemates get naked to take their baths. In reality I'm sure everyone gets naked to take their baths. Those who choose to do it in front of cameras for a chance to win a life-changing sum of money are merely exercising their God-given freewill. If it upsets you, you also have the God-given freewill to change channels or activate the Parental Control feature on your decoder to protect your kids from the harrowing images of human beings taking a bath.

People here talk about BBA being porn. I find that many of them have no idea what the word means. If they did they would never use that term in referring to the reality show. Pornography in this context is visual material or acts that embody violence, coercion, discrimination, force or brutality on women, men, children, or animals in sexual acts and represents them in degrading positions. How does this equal shower hour? I submit that shower hour adds no value to the show (as BBN was just as interesting without shower hour) but to say that human beings having their baths is pornography is just plain stupid.

Regarding broadcast ethics, they do not apply to pay tv. This is because broadcast rules vary from country to country and it would be hell for a service like DSTV to be in compliance with all broadcast rules across Africa. When you sign on to a pay TV service like DSTV a whole new set of rules kicks in. You contract to accept their programming as they deliver it. But DSTV went ahead to include parental control facilities in their service so people who wanted to restrict viewing of certain channels could do so. This argument is like the age old man/woman argument of toilet seat always up or always down. It won't ever be resolved.

But i say again, if BBA II offends your sensibilities, you have a list of options:

1.  Enable the Parental Control Feature on your decoder.
2.  Subscribe to DSTV Family Bouquet which doesn't carry Channel 198
3.  Entirely discontinue your patronage of DSTV.
4.  Publicly burn your DSTV Decoder in the middle of your street with a placard ' saying "purveyor of pornography"
5.  Or strap on 20 sticks of dynamite and with your decoder on your head go to Multichoice office and blow yourself and your decoder up in full view of the frightened staff.

Choose your option wisely because a couple of them are guaranteed not to have the desired result. wink
