WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IGANDO

History revealed that the founder of village was Ezeba-Onimaba, Oko-Osi and Eshidana. From the notes given to us by Oba, the three founders migrated from Ile-Ife to Bini as hunters (on a hunting expedition) and traders (buying and selling) and in search of a village settlement. At that time, Ifa, the great Orunmila who says the mind of the ancestral gods was consulted for guidance on the particular area of settlement.

The three founders: Oko-Osi, Eshidana and Ezeba-Onimaba whom the incumbent Oba of Igando is the descendant, then embarked on the journey, but reached a point where there was a three “Ant hills”; it is called ‘IGAN-ODO” in a Yoruba parlance. Ifa oracle was again consulted and the great Orunmila told them to make a village settlement at the area respectively. The Ant Hills-”IGAN-DO” was compacted to what is known today as”IGANDO”.

It was written that beneath the Anthill, they planted Akoko tree called OGUN, as the Ogun shrine is still feasible today. However, other idols brought by them are ALE, EYIGBA, OLUWWAIYE, ORO, E GUN GUN AND OSUGBO CULT. After some time, Ezeba-Onimaba later moved to an area where he built his huts with Imo-Aba and the area today is known as “IMOBA”.

Today, Imoba is one of the four quarters of Igando. Igando is divided into four quarters namely: Imoba, Isalu, Idojigbo and Isunbajon. These segmented areas have traditional administrative authority, each of which is headed by a white cap chief. History reveals that the Title of Onimaba was hereditary and could only be conferred on the Descendant of Oro-Otun Onimaba, who is the only male child of Ezeba-Onimaba, which is why the Descendant of Oro-Otan is known as “OMO ORO-OTAN ONIMABA EKUN”.

It was also noted that Ezeba beget Oro-Otan Onimaba , Oko-Osi begets Oyero and Eshidana had no issue. He came to Igando with a beaded crown and after time, Eshidana moved to Ijegun and Okerube because he had no issue at Igando. After his demise, the title of Onimabo was chang :Ped to ONIGANDO OF IGANDO
