You are obviously the one who is confused about what is being said. Who doesn't know the report was talking about debt to GDP ratio?
U.S, Canada etc have trillions in debt does that mean these countries are about to collapse as some of you ignorantly say about Nigeria?
The reason why your own in Nigeria is pathetic is because you people produce nothing and consume everything foreign.
Even the crude oil under your ground you can't extract enough, so much so that Dangote is importing crude for his refinery while the country is awaash with crude oil deposits.
You import fuel, diesel and kerosene that you have in global quantities under your ground.
All the derivatives from petroleum you have in abundance you import them.
You import rice and beans.
That's why your situation is a scandalous one.
Face the truth. You are comparing your shithole of a country with places like Canada and the US.
Even your so-called president is a convicted drug dealer who escaped through drug money forfeiture.

kingsways:
Debt-to-GDP is not a good metric . In fact it a wicked measure IMF use to push countries into debt trap.

The right metric to use is Debt to Revenue

You do not repay loans with GDP, you repay loans with revenues

Your GDP is the total value of your productivity, while your revenue is your income. If your work for a company and your total productivity is N10 million but your salary is only N1million, you can’t borrow based on N10 million, you can only borrow based on your salary.

Very sound analysis this apc got once claimed that they are servicing nigeria's debts with over 96% of the revenue they are getting.

perhaps the IMF actually mean that Nigeria is the second country that owes the IMF athe least amount of money.....doesn't mean ANigeria isn't owing other creditors....as for IMF direct loans...nigeria is owing the second least amounts. The major problem though is the fact that the amount we're owing is still a huge amount of money. imagine almosdt 45% of your country's totalmearnings
