JUST IN: SENATOR AKPABIO SURVIVES SUSPENSION ATTEMPT BY HIS WARD EXCOS AMIDST ALLEGATIONS OF ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES

Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio(CON), the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has survived an attempt to suspend him from the All Progressives Party (APC) for alleged anti-party activities.

According to sources, the plot was orchestrated by His predecessor in office Gov Udom Emmanuel, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umana Okon Umana, Obong Nsima Ekere, Senator James Udoedehe and few other APC members who are not in support of the Senate President and has accused him of killing the All Progressives Congress APC in the state thereby enhancing the fortunes of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the coming elections, whereas the PDP is consolidating towards the next elections, the APC is in tatters, our source reported.

The suspension was reportedly planned to be carried out by the Senate President's factional ward executives, but the plot was foiled when one of the executives leaked the information and refused to be part of the suspension committee.

Sources also revealed that the recent outburst by Bar. Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, in a recent interview against the Senate President accusing him of not believing in the Arise Agenda of Gov Umo Eno was part of the plot, which actually marks the beginning of the long orchestrated plan to stop the Senate President and his over zealousness. Barr Enoidem while challenging the Senate President in a recent interview, stated in clear terms that he does not believe in Umo Eno's bipartisanship and his Arise Agenda.

According to sources, the plotters of the suspension, who have the support of Governor Umo Eno claimed that Senator Akpabio, coming from a minority tribe in the state should not be allowed to lord over the matters of Akwa Ibom State. They also vowed to do everything possible to twart his return to the chambers as a senator in 2027.

Furthermore, the plotters, according to our source, alleged that the Senate President, Senator Akpabio does not allow the governor to concentrate on his responsibilities, claiming that he extorts N1billion from Governor Umo Eno monthly working in concert with his wife Unoma .

Gov Udom Emmanuel, the former Governor was quoted by our source saying "We will make sure Akpabio is not returned as a Senator come 2027, as directed by my principal Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, GCON, the former vice President. He does not allow the governor to fully function and discharge his responsibilities just because he is the Senate President and getting a whooping 1billion naira monthly from the State government is at the disadvantage of the State and so we will do everything to put an end to this before 2027"

Our source also quoted one of the plotters asking during a meeting "Why can’t the Senate President concentrate in building his fragmented party, the APC instead of frolicking with Gov Umo Eno and extorting and filtering away the state resources that could have been used to develop the State and in addition to trying to instigate a quarrel between Gov Umo Eno and his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel"?

As of the time of this report, the suspension plot has been foiled, and it remains to be seen what the next line of action will be.
