Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, has said that insecurity in the country is ecological.

Akume said this at the launch of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution Implementation Framework (NDC-IF) (2023-2030) on Thursday in Abuja.

The SGF, who was represented by Prof Bolaji Babatunde, his Senior Special Assistant (Technical), said the document is of immense contribution to tackling climate change issues in the country.

“I have to sing it loud that one of the reasons for insecurity in the country is largely ecological. The issue of climate change should not be taken lightly especially for the country Nigeria,” Akume said.

He said that the framework which is a national tool designed to ensure coordination, transparency and resource mobilisation would create awareness on how to mitigate climate change in the country.

“The mobilisation of finance for the effective implementation of NDC is imperative. The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says the window to limit global warming to 1.5° centigrade is rapidly closing in,” Akume said.

He said that climate change knows no border and so these changes threaten not only the environment but also the socio-economic fabric of communities worldwide.

“The NDC-IF is not just a document but also a roadmap for transformative action.

“It lays out strategies, policies and measures that will guide our efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions, enhance resilience and foster sustainable development,” the SGF said.

Malam Balarabe Lawal, Minister of Environment, said that NDC-IF revealed the urgent need to address climate change and mitigation in the country.

Lawal who was represented by Mr Etigbue Dilichukwu, Director Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management in the Ministry said the NDC-IF is designed to provide a robust and comprehensive framework to enhance a sustainable future.

Lawal said that unwavering dedication and partnership by stakeholders would foster green growth and create resilience to address other national challenges.

Mr Samuel Onuigbo, former Chairman House Committee on Climate Change, commended NCCC for the launching of NDC implementation framework and urged that every deliberation on the project be implemented.

Salisu Dahiru the Director-General (D-G) of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) said that several meetings were held.

Dahiru said the meetings were aimed at enhancing the quality of the NDC-IF and overall climate change good governance in the country by raising awareness, building of MDAs and promoting stakeholders engagement.

I understand, you and the corrupt crooks in Abuja are suffering ecological problems, climate change has frozen your brains and prevented you from finding solutions to the ecological security problems.

We know climate change affects only Nigeria, other counries like Rwanda and Argentina are living in Pluto.

Countries are reclaiming deserts yi are here talking rubbish

Those millions of amajeri in the North if you employ them , pay them 1000 per day ( the world be livid) to plant 300 tress per day

If we employ 1 million of them that's 1 billion naira for 300 million tress 10 billion for 3 billion tress 50 billion for 15 billion tress

In 5 years over 75 billion tress

North is not ready to solve it's problem

In 2024 is when people still see desertification as a problem? Lmaooo

What!! How do these incompetent deluded fools get into seats of power?
So BH menace,Fulani herdsmen crisis and banditry are now ecological?
If not for stupid religious and ethnic sentiments, how could we keep electing idiots with zero cognitive reasoning and intellectual ability to power, even after 64 years of Independence.
Nigeria should have remained a British overseas territory.
And we need that designation now, since after more than six decades of Independence,we still can't do anything political properly like sane people.
Imagine what an idiot calling himself a Federal office holder is spewing!.
Insecurity is ecological!.
Even Western countries have never ever made such an assertion.
What's the relationship or connection between Insecurity and Ecology?.
How does the interaction of plants, animals and humans bring or promote insecurity?
Many educated English speaking Nigerians are actually STARK ILLITERATES.
