Why can't we have functional oil refineries in Nigeria? Is this a curse or what? All of these misleaders should be put in an underground cell for life. Unpatriotic things.

So $25bn is now chicken shiit that corrupt politicians claimed to spend anyhow?
Re: Shettima: $25bn Spent On Fuel Importation Every Year by Amah70: 8:21pm On May 24

Fuel used mostly on private electricity generating sets.

Complaining to who?

Despite the more than a trillion dollars from oil revenues since 1960, Nigeria cannot afford electricity.
What else is a sign for a dysfunctional country?
Politicians from all corners of Nigeria know that Nigeria cannot thrive, because of the way it's restructured and governed since the 1970s. Yet the Politicians grind along with a dysfunctional country, and apparently waiting for the day of Armagedon when they will escape with their families from collapsed Nigeria.
Tinubu moved all over the lands in the SW region for 15 years beginning 1999-2013 campaigning for political restructuring of Nigeria. Tinubu is now president.

Nigeria is full of clowns.

Our whole country is a circus.

Yet, the federal government refuse to sell crude to Dangote to refine locally

The man has to get crude in America for cheaper price.
They said they don't have any crude to sell to him. That the crude has been sold ahead in exchange of cash to put it simply. Basically using the crude to settle debts.

If refineries are not working, whose fault?

But it's binance that's making dollar gain over naira. Illiterates.

Just one year of governance and it's clear that these guys have absolutely nothing to offer. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Even Buhari, as clueless as he was, wasn't this clueless/hopeless.

You mention Buhari! Buhari is in a class on his own. He totally finished Nigeria's economy. That is why Tinubu is having an extremely hard time fixing things.

To understand the scale of the problem, in 2022, the then government spent more than 100% of government revenue servicing debt which means there was zero money left. All the money the government spent that year was borrowed.

Buhari was a failure. That's certified.
I have MANY issues with Tinubu but let me highlight a few:

1) Why is the minimum wage still #30k?
2) Why will he use 90 Billion to subsidize Hajj?
3) Why is 15 billion proposed for the renovation of VP's residence?
4) Why was electricity subsidy removed for Band A people which was stupid in the first place?
5) Why did he introduce cyber security Levy?

PlasmaTV:

Buhari was a failure. That's certified.
I have MANY issues with Tinubu but let me highlight a few:

1) Why is the minimum wage still #30k? The proper thing for him to do would be to sack excess workers, restructure the civil service for optimal delivery and increase the pay for those who remain to reasonable levels so they can put in their best. Paying government workers takes up the bulk of government spending so has to be well thought out

2) Why will he use 90 Billion to subsidize Hajj? More to do with politics. It is to please the people. It is a vote winner with the Muslims.

3) Why is 15 billion proposed for the renovation of VP's residence? The truth is Nigeria is a very corrupt place. This is for patronage. This is cheap compared to the 9 trillion that would be spent subsidizing petrol and trillions more on a bloated civil service

4) Why was electricity subsidy removed for Band A people which was stupid in the first place? If you provide a service, do you not expect to recover cost and make a profit? If you don't, you will definitely stop supplying.

The primary reason why there's no power is because the tariffs Nigerians pay is not cost reflective. It is sold at below cost. Nigerians want anything energy free. The federal government promised to pay the Discos the differential but is now owing the Gencos $1.3b and the Discos 1.3 trillion Naira. Because they are being owed money, gas suppliers refuse to sell to Gencos. The government does have the money to these subsidies so people just have to pay more

5) Why did he introduce cyber security Levy?
It is a very easy way to raise money. It isn't the best way though. Kenya's government is notorious for minting money from GSM operators using such. It is a tax that can not easily be evaded
