Minimum Wage is the lowest anybody in any establishment must earn, that's like the cleaners, drivers, let's say the "O" level holders and below. Meaning that a school teacher will earn more than the security man or cleaners? How much are you willing to pay for school fees for your kid's school cleaners and drivers to earn 470k minimum? How much bank charges are you willing to let go for banks to pay their cleaners and drivers 470k minimum? How much are you willing to buy a bucket chicken for KFC to pay security and cleaners #470k minimum a month? How much would you want a POS owner to charge for 1k withdrawal for them to be able to pay their operators #470k a month? How much are you willing to pay for a plate of food for mama put to pay her workers 470k a month? How much will you buy biscuits so that a factory worker can earn 470k? Let's discuss how this will not ruin the economy. |

Forget those Organised Labour guys. They are the real problems of the country. |

The minimum wage shouldn't go above 65k. Doesn't mean that's what everybody will earn. Some company workers earn over 300k and the minimum wage is 30k meaning if it gets double they will earn more. Most companies pay above the minimum wage right now. |

The minimum wage should be 100k, but workers' salaries should be increased across the board in relation with what they are currently earning and the value of worthless Naira. You will never know how worthless the naira is until you go to the market to buy foodstuff. |

Even labour knows it's unrealistic. Their goal is to settle at 100k As we speak there's no light in Abuja |

alanto:Let it be, the worst thing is using #30k salary to feed your family and paying #700k for food. That's suicide. |
| Re: The Reality Of A #470k Minimum Wage. by vanbonattel: 7:04pm On Jun 03, 2024 |
alanto:Can you break down for us how you can use #65k to feed a family of 6 each month. I am talking about food only, let's assume they live in the air, use Edo airways to get around, and never get sick or pay school fees. Explain to us. |

vanbonattel:what age grade earn the basic salary?, cuz from what I know majority of the people earning the minimum wage are below 30s, how many under 30s have family of six which you're using for your evaluation |

| Re: The Reality Of A #470k Minimum Wage. by alanto(op): 12:57pm On Jun 04, 2024 |
Ofunaofu:May not be 100% accurate but he's somewhat right. That's why he said most and not all. Most of you talking about minimum wage are not employed. Do you know the difference between Casual Staff, Contract Staff and company staff? |
| Re: The Reality Of A #470k Minimum Wage. by alanto(op): 1:01pm On Jun 04, 2024 |
Stenewiser:Most of them are just trolling the government, they don't know how employment work. The guy that quoted you for example is an Igbo guy I can bet my life he has never worked in a company or anything firm. He definitely doesn't know the difference in staffing i.e contract, casual and company staff. He can't differentiate those. They are just trolling the government and hoping the government would do something that would worsen the economy or they will continue on the trolling side and make the government look bad. |

vanbonattel:Lol. For you to have family of 6 then you can't be earning the minimum wage. You must have been working before, minimum wage is what a normal entry company workers earn (many companies pay more than double minimum wage), as you continue working over time, you are going to be earning more, you will probably go from casual to operator or something similar, or you would have become a company staff. I know companies that don't pay much but many of you don't understand how employment works. Most of you are just trolling the government. Let me ask you something do you know that Alex Otti and Soludo are not paying the 30k minimum wage as we speak and yet Otti is owing workers? How's he going to pay even the 60k? |

Op, not everyone earns the 30k monthly minimum salary. I know people that earn 12k a month. Thats why i thought the minimum wage is not enforced in naija |
| Re: The Reality Of A #470k Minimum Wage. by kedeojo(m): 1:58pm On Jun 04, 2024 |
Stenewiser:You are correct because the negative effect on the economy will be massive. What government need to do in regard to workers is to provide free buses to workers in designated bus stop. With this transportation will be taken care of. Let the government open food markets across all the local government areas, by buying from the farmers directly and these will force other foodstuffs traders to reduced their prices cos many are taken advantage of the current situation to hike their prices. That is what we called control measures. At least he will go long to ameliorate the situation at hand now. |

alanto:I don't understand, 18k for what? |
