Well, maybe you guys should read his will before deciding if he wanted to be buried in Nigeria, as Nigerian or not. It is very simple and he deserves whatever he wants in his will.

Ojukwu - power hungry man that went to brutal war for his own selfish ambitious interest deserves nothing but sea burial. it will be a mistake to bury the man that caused all the Nigeria problems on Nigeria soil. One day we all shall wake to the fact and stop worshiping human being.

Nairalanders never ceases to amaze me, cheesy cheesy with their opinions that are better kept personal,  WHY ON EARTH SHOULD DIM CHUKWUEMEKA OJUKWU BE CELEBRATED? angry angry   Is it for his uncompleted job of plans to separate Nigeria or the millions of Ibos that died during he unnecessary civil war?,  Everybody in the country knows that only a handful of politicos(including late Ojukwu) controls the fortune of over #150million people,  Assuming he succeeded with his planned cessation of Nigeria unity, i believe their would have being crys of marginalisation amongst the down trodden in his biafra state today, And another cabal would arise and demand for cessation of biafra state, The opinion is not about separation, but about a joint effort at fighting the minute ceasars ruling Nigeria,  grin grin

Late Ojukwu does not deserve to be remembered for his genocide of Ibo generations

Rest In Peace DIM CHUKWUEMEKA OJUKWU cry cry cry

Uchek - is 100% right!

I wonder why people think Nigeria is okay now!  Perhaps we are content to live as slaves to the corruption called Nigeria.  The leaders that have pillaged the country before and after the civil war continue to pass the baton to chosen successors to continue the pillage.

The conviction to fight for the country of Biafra is an unfinished business that all southern regions of the country will eventually have to take up again.

While our young are being entertained with prostitution, video games, Nollywood, etc.  the country is being robbed blind of wealth from the south taken to the north.

Uchek:

Jason123: It is not because of him that Nigeria is like this.

He never ruled Nigeria so he is not part of the political and military class that looted and pillaged Nigeria.

He never planted coup or usurped federal power or used access to Nigeria resources to enrich himself and his cronies like IBB, Abacha, Obasanjos, Dangumas, etc.

He did not fight against Nigeria. He fought against the issues which Nigeria is facing today. Example is the massacre and killing going on in Jos, Gowons hometown.

History - not our comments on Nairaland or dailies has rendered verdict on Ojukwu.

GBAM.

you have to give Ojukwu all honor  like you buries a nigeria president.

Even when Gowon dies. you have to lower the nigeria flag and biafra flag  to show people that Gowon lead a civil war,   that will be the last time you lower the biafra flag. when Gowon dies.
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by musiwa43: 8:09am On Nov 28, 2011

Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by nagoma(m): 8:37am On Nov 28, 2011
He did not fight against Nigeria, he just didn't want to be a part of it, and would fight tooth and blood to have his own "personal" country, his own flag, his own currencies, his own armies.

Now we are being encouraged to salute his courage, and lower the Nigerian flag, how nice.

We have a sticker for him here on nairaland---- https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-811678.0.html -----  I am sure that should do.

I am in agreement ,Ojukwu should be burried at sea. This is the end of an era as OBJ observed. I hope he has been burried already. We dont need his trouble again - We should move forward.
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by musiwa43: 8:42am On Nov 28, 2011

GBAM!!!

If true Heros like Ken Saro-wiwa and Isaac Adaka Boro didnt get a half-mast at their funeral, why should a chalatant terrorist like Ojukwu be given a state burial.

If thats how cheap we want to make our country, then All martyrs of Boka Haram should be given a state burial, also all Militants, OPC and even Osisikankwu should be given a state burial.

Arrant Nonsense. angry

Bleep Ojukwu, Bleep Biafra and Bleep all apologists for the useless idea called Biafra.

angry
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by larikky: 9:11am On Nov 28, 2011
Why should Nigeria honor someone for trying to divide it?
That's sending a message that other militia sects can rise up against Nigeria and be honored.

Nigeria can only honor nationalists and those that fought to keep Nigeria together and move it forward.Ojukwu didn't do that.Ojukwu remains a tribal hero and it will be good if all eastern governors declare a public holiday for him but not Nigeria.
He fought for the east and not for Nigeria.
Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by nagoma(m): 9:22am On Nov 28, 2011
Ojukwu was a fugitive war criminal and enemy of the state . He was wanted for many charges including treason and misleading of the Igbo people. He was given a state perdon and rehabilitated politically and even wanted to be the president of Nigeria. No country except Nigeria could be that forgiving and reconciliatory . (Imagine Hitler going for the Presidency of European Union). Nothing more should be done to him and like Gowon we all are happy that Ojukwu died a Nigerian.
