DUTSE—Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has bemoaned what he described as blanket condemnation of all the 36 governors as corrupt, saying that there were several state chief executives who are clean.

According to him, it was unconscionable to parade as thieves, leaders elected by their people through democratic process, without adequate proof.

Lamido, who reacted to allegation reportedly made by President of Civil Rights Congress, CRC, Comrade Shehu Sani, in a radio programme that most governors were ‘’thieves,’’ said some governors, especially those on the platform of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, were clean.

Sani was quoted in the programme as saying the governors supported the removal of fuel subsidy so that they would have enough money to steal.

However, Lamido said: ”PDP governors are not thieves,” pointing out that Sani’s condemnation was not only unjust and unfair but unguarded.

The governor, who spoke to journalists in Dutse, explained that even if all governors were thieves as claimed by Sani, he (Lamido) and others PDP governors were clean, hence there was no basis to dub them as criminals.

He however, said that what mattered most was that the people that voted for the governors or their leaders still ‘’have confidence in them and as such there is no false accusation such as the one from Sani’’ that would undermine their credibility.

“Governors have enough resources in their accounts that will be used to execute meaningful developmental projects in line with the yearnings and aspirations of their electorates who voted them into power, as such governors have nothing to do with the money derived from fuel subsidy,” he added, asking commentators on issues to always educate the citizens wisely and avoid such unjustifiable claims against politicians and other individuals.

According to Governor Lamido the reknowed activists should bear in mind that those whom he was parading or calling as thieves were people’s leaders who were elected through a democratic process as such his statement is considered as unguided and unruly act.
