Thank God we have moved from Maternal/Child centers to 'ACCIDENT AND DEATH' centers opened by Fashola.
Good news. . .people who arrive here are already dead on arrival anyhoo. . . I may now rest in peace from this thread! grin
Please, call me when you wanno bring in meaningfull lives not celebrate the death of the unfortunate souls who happen to be STUCK in countries like Nigeria with absolutely NO alternatives at self-determination.

Na wah.
This must be Fashola relatives or paid staff.
Where are the links to these pictures if I may ask? cheesy

Eko Ile:

lol medical professional

He spewed nothing but rubbish.
What's so professional about his light and window nonsense.

1. The picture up there is from one of the best University teaching hospitals in the world and that's where they train their doctors real life and light is shining through the window as seen in the picture. The equipments in both rooms looks almost the same. So what's so professional about that worthless piece of info?

2. He yelled about scrubbing down when we all know it's standard everywhere, even the lady in the Lagos maternity picture had on protective gears.

Talk about shallow minds,

Correct. I have no time for people like that. Appearing intelligent is all that matters to them even if they cannot comprehend that they are actually decieiving themselves, publicly,  to support a stance they have taken. Like I said , let the doctors read and comment. When they do, we will all know easily that they really are "medical professionals". No need to carry on arguing with those who just wish to give a dog a bad name to hang it. What Fashola has delivered is totally effective and up to standard - even if not gold standard. I certainly don't see anything wrong, from a medical perspective, with the health Centre.  It will save lives and deliver localised healthcare where it is needed. Abeg, we know this is really about some never seeing good in anything emanating from Nigeria.

My guy, some really show their level of ignorance and lack of shame when they criticise this man unfairly. A man who provide this:

in the same Country where what we see below is a hospital ward, deserves nothing but commendation. Let us be aware of what obtains on the ground so that we can appreciate laudable efforts of folks like Fashola.

Indeed, It is Nairaland that made me appreciate Dora Akunyili's perspective when she stated that Nigerians in the diaspora are the biggest problem of Nigeria. Some of them are simply too far gone in their desire to villify Nigeria and Nigerians blindly that they no longer see what matters and are totally unable to give credit where due.

Why are some M0ron condemning this Fashola guy, the guy is trying his best.
If the Federal Government is developing infrastructure the way he's been doing,
Nigeria would have turned to paradise by now.

My guy, what shows that these folks are unhelpful and "the biggest enemies of Nigeria" (Dora Akunyili) if not the excerpts I present, below, from the blog of "Oyibo"-Jane , a medical Doctor from chicago on a 30 day visit to inspect healthcare in the South West of Nigeria? Will the clowns, lost souls and self-haters arguing here blindly now tell us they know more than this lady ? This is what I dislike about Nairaland the most lately. Too many empty barrels arguing out of their dislike of personalities , self-hatred or a blind desire to always put Nigeria and Nigerians down to the extent that genuinely  informative and educational discussion is now a rarity currently on NL. I want the entire forum to note the last picture below a Chicago medical Doctor had what is written below, in italic, to say about Fashola's effort while Nigerians themselves shout "inadequate, inferior" about a medical centre that looks better than the one "Oyibo"-Jane Praises. Simply disgraceful conduct from so-called Nigerians. I understand Akunyili perfectly now. A foreign "medical proffesional" , ostensibly exposed to the best standards, came here to appreciate and praise the efforts of Fashola while ignorant self-haters, clueless about adequate public healthcare, and only interested in finding negatives where there is none, remain in the diaspora talking arrant nonsense and sabotaging their own nation , without any merit whatsoever, before the entire world.

Before the professors headed to the airport for their flight wearing their new Nigerian attire that was made for them (they were measured for clothing on their first day like I was!), we stopped by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), a state government supported hospital that provides, get this, free health care for those 0-12 years old and those 60+ years old! (UCH is a federal government hospital; states run independently similarly as states in the US do). We toured their new technology and lab area which was seriously state of the art. It was built within the last 2 years - clean and spacious with up to date technology and equipment to do lab/chemistry/micro examinations and MRI/CT scans. It was nicer than the hospital where I work at in Chicago! Dr. Sola had wanted us to see the spectrum of health care delivery in Nigeria that is clearly affected by how money is spent by the leadership. I have to say I am quite impressed by the LASUTH and Lagos State government for pulling this off.

THIS FASHOLA OF A DUDE MUST BE A BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH MAN!

In this day and age of infection everywhere. . .we still have rooms like prisons?
Are we still living in the era of MARY SLESSOR OR FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE?
Why do we always settle for substandard things?
Are Nigerians not good enough for private rooms at this stage of our existence?
Tuberculosis go just kill every pickin for this place finish.
You cannot see this kind of thing in ANY civilized part of the world.
The windows do not even have mosquito nets to protect immuno-compromised children.

A FOUR STORY BUILDING WITH NO ELEVATORS TO TRANSPORT SICK CHILDREN from their mothers' backs?
Abeg, any barry see any h-airconditioning unit protruding from any part of that building?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOH? I see internal air-conditioning units.
Wey the generator wey go work 24/7 in Lagos where PCHN is practically non-existent. AJEGUNLE FOR THAT MATTER?

Sinachay, (Mr New York - a lot of Nigerians think living abroad is something to show off about!), you are talking out of your ass, plainly out of ignorance bothering on idiocy!

I am a doctor - obstetrician, and I currently work in the UK. This is a very standard hospital setting. Can compete with the hospital where I work in the UK. Not all rooms need to be private in an obstetric ward, even in the developed world where they have a lot of money!
Please stay in America, and stop coming to Nairaland. Continue to wash plates and dirty clothes stained with faeces, and stop bothering about Nigeria. Nigeria can do without the likes of you!

Araysay, Kolojunkie & co-travellers, all assertions made by you in order to display unintelligent intelligence going through search engine to furnish faulty points, because you are enjoying subsidised health care and likes abroad which in reality you can't afford. How many of your family member can afford private room in a private hospital as you have posited, in Nigeria? Please tell me, how many of your Nigerian family can afford private room in EKO hospital and its like in Nigeria? To start with, were you born in such private roomed hospital? Why not face reality and tell us how much you pay for the health facilities you enjoy in US and how much is being subsidised by US government. May be you don't know, in this your abode, US, many died because they can't afford health-care cost. May be you don't know that an American sent himself to jail deliberately because he could not afford treatment for an ailment. After all, government take care of him in prison with tax payers money. These happen in US. Why are you all pretending here. All of us that work with multinational, how much subsidy do we get from our company to be able to deliver babies in those choice hospital around the country? Can you take care of that with your salary? How much subsidy do you get from Nigeria government teaching and specialist hospital. Just continue to deceive yourself. What Fashola has done is what we need because it is doing just what the project is planned to do. I can't laugh, private room in hospital that can accommodate family in Nigeria. Some NLdrs reasoning flow out of their brain when in front of their computers. Just come home and she how the family you leave behind are living. Then you will chant: Fashola I hail Thee, The Messiah.

How old are those medical units? Where they built this year? And how many serious medical units are sitting not too far from those?  At least let's use our heads on this one, to understand what is probably being said here.

Also, are you willing then to give credit to Governor Orji in Abia State since he has also helped bring similar units as the one you have here to Abia State. Same thing River's State, Imo State, Kano State(***Shudders***) and so many other states have done. Can you here and now tell us that you are not one of those who, according to you, chat shiit to increase point count or whatever that is?

Cause I remember a similar thread created some weeks ago on Abia State health and many of those on here praising Fashola for those where all too quick to condemn Orji for his own.

@Kobojunkie, does age really matters here? Old hospitals upgrade while new ones use modern facilities. Again, I bet the state has better hands than many private hospitals. Your argument here seems like the defeated folk. Those UK hospitals upgrade while Lagos got the very latest, the reason the Doctor in the home said the same facilities. You remember pattern recognition in Pre-School age. May be you missed that aspect then. Well, can't help you beyond this, not my fault.

^^^ How many old Hospitals do you actually know of , in anywhere Nigeria, that has continually been upgraded, and not demolished to build new ones in, say the last 20 or so years? Especially these 'makeshift' units. Why are we yet to build the world class/Standard units we need today. even in Poor areas?

Also, you might want to take time to READ so as to know where individuals are coming from, not assume they are all HATERS and so are SPEAKING the same thing each time you jump on threads. It telling of the level you are still on when it comes to debating issues.

You are free to give him all your credit and shower him with all you have. The argument, from the way I understand it is this is not near excellent, or the standard we expect, for me especially after 8 years of planning(since we are told Tinubu spent 8 years working on plans for Lagos) and almost 5 years of implementation of these plans.  Again, you have to read what people actually type.

On giving him credit, am I to assume then that you also give the same lot of credits to Governor Orji in Abia State, Rocha in Imo State, Amaechi in Rivers State, heck Yar adua when he was governor in Katsina State, for building similar structures in their own States? Cause you do have to if your argument there has to hold any water. Fashola is not the first to build units like this in Nigeria. According to media records, there are so many of these scattered around Nigeria.

May I remind you in your most sober moments that you have been duped of the most the money allocated for THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF ANY HEALTHCARE FACILITY. It has been embezzled by your Fashola of a 'messiah'.

Did he show you toilets, labs, standby generator, adequate plumbing. . .fire prevention and safety standards policies.

All you see are pictures and you are shouting EKO N'ILE OBAJERE ALL OVER NL.

Stop deluding yourself! This has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with Pattern Recognition, and you might want to get yourself acquainted with what that actually means. A visit to wikipedia might get you the education you need on that. If you are going to use that terminology, at least have some base understanding of what it is used for and how to apply it, so you do not apply it where it should not.

ideally, its only the A&E of any hospital that should be open, WHY? because the priority in such wards is  to save the patients life first.the question of transmission of infections is not the overriding concern, EVERY other ward ideally should not be open, I doubt the claim that hospitals abroad have open wards like one of the gentlemen above mentioned. What he probably meant was that patients were kept within the same space but with one patient partitioned from the other,

Again, NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY, nothing you have said, has anything to do with Pattern Recognition. That you assume Nigerians cannot afford higher quality healthcare has NOTHING to do with the idea of Pattern Recognition. Seriously, if you cannot even READ and COMPREHEND the explanation given you on WIKIPEDIA, then there are serious issues there and dude, you need to go fix that issue quick ooo . . . .

That you assume the poor cannot pay for better, has NOTHING TO DO WITH PATTERN RECOGNITION. That being said, I think you should now go back to the beginning of the thread to read what many have said to counter that claim that because people are poor, they deserve these units instead of the same money being paid instead on building up to par situations to provide them alternatives that we can build on, and they, the poor in the area, and the community, can benefit to a great deal from.
