The immediate past chairman, Nsit Ibom local government area of Akwa Ibom State and a Fellow, Chartered Institution of Taxation of Nigeria, Elder Joshua Eyo Asuquo, has commended the efforts of Governor Godwills Obot Akpabio over his developmental projects across the state.

He made this commendation while speaking on the national honour’s award of the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) conferred on the governor by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Asuquo explained that Akpabio deserves more than a national honour considering his enormous contributions to national development. “This is the first time Akwa Ibom State is transformed to such a level that the indigenes enjoy free education from primary to secondary schools. The government has also executed many public projects to open up the region for influx of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI),” he said.

Asuquo, also a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria , stressed that Akpabio came with a vision to reposition the state for greater economic productivity and has achieved tangible development within four years in office.

The erstwhile council chair added: “He has done so well by carrying everyone along and giving the indigenes a sense of belonging. Also, the council chairmen are encouraged to key into the concept of free education in the state. For instance, my council constructed a stadium complex of 10,000 capacity, attracted fire service station to the area, purchased new vehicles for the principal officers of the council, pay bursary to many students, and awarded scholarships to students within the area.

“My appeal is for all the indigenes to work together as a team and give the governor full support to enable him turn around the state for greater growth”.
