The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Mr. Oyetunde Ojo as the winner of the Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II for the House of Representatives rerun held on Saturday.

Ojo polled a total number of 26,338 votes to beat his closest rival, Mr Kehinde Odebunmi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 17,344 to place second.

Declaring the results of the election at the Community Grammar School, Aramoko-Ekiti, the Returning Officer, Dr. Akintunde Aremu, explained that seven political parties participated in the election.

They include Mr. Olaoluwa Fasakin of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), 425 votes; Mr. Sayo Fatayo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), 46 votes; Mr Peter Adekola Bamigbade of the National Transformation (NTP), 153 votes; Hon. C.O Oluwafemi of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), 106 votes and Mr Israel Ogunleye of the Labour Party (LP), 69 votes.

Out of the 120, 190 voters registered in the Federal Constituency, a total of 46,540 voters participated in the election while 2059 votes were rejected.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Halilu Pai, lauded journalists and security agents across the state for a job well done during the election.

The INEC National Commissioner for Ekiti, Oyo, and Ogun States, Prof. Lai Olorode also applauded the voters and the people of the Constituency their conduct.

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi commended the people of Ijero, Efon and Ekiti West Local Government Areas for conducting themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner before, during and after poll.
