Misconceptions by Dsimmer(op):
@ lukgaf, You should be corrected on this..

While Yoruba loaned some Arabic words due to trading with the core Northerners who were already taking up Arabic language due to Islam however most of what you wrote down are incorrect because those are not Yoruba words to begin with, considering Yoruba have got their own original words for it. For every words loaned during trading, Yoruba have their own original words. This is highlighted below. Yoruba have their own words. The Yoruba words are highlighted below.

Sábàbí - Sabab (reason, cause) - Idi.

Kádàrá - Qadar (destiny, fate) - Ayanmo.

Àlámòrí - Al'amr (affair) - Eto.

Túbá - Taubah (repentance) - Ironupiwada.

Ìbáádà - Ibaadah (divine service, act of
devotion or worship) - Esin.

Sàdánkátà - Sadaqta (bravo, you have spoken the truth) - Igboriya.

Shari'ah (Islamic law) - Idanijo. It should always be noted that Yoruba are not Arabic people.

Rìbá - Riba (usury, bribe) - Abetele.

Hàrámù - Haram (illegal act, cheating) - Itanje.

Màkàrúrù - Makruh (a detested thing, a
dishonest act) - Ikorira.

Al'afiah (good health, well-being) - Ilera, Idera.. However, Alafia is also Yoruba word. I mean Yoruba have words such as Olofin and Alafin which are pure Yoruba words thus Alafin-Ayo means wellbeing and health.

Àdúà - Ad-dua (prayer) - Iwure, Ibewe

Kálámù - Qalam (pen) - Gege Ikowe.

Àlùbáríkà - Al-barakah (blessing) - Ibukun.

Àsírí - Assirr (secret) - Ikoko, Ijinle. However, Asiri is also Yoruba btw. Asi-ri etymology is "Open before viewing" hence it's a "secret". Another example is "eeri-nkan". "Ri" is a Yoruba word which is similar to "Wo" in meaning.

Wákàtí - Waqt (hour) - Akoko (Agogo or Aago also signifies Time, apart from meaning Bell).

Àlééfà - Khilafah (caliphate) - Aafin Oba is what is known as Palace. Aghofen Oba also means "Palace". Always note that Yoruba are not Arabic people.

Àlùbósà - Al-basal (onion) - Probably Borrowed.

Árísìkí - Ar-rizq (good fortune) - Ire.

Fìtínà - Fitnah (worry, trouble) - Daamu.

Fáàrí - Fakhr (pride, bluff) - Buga, Igberaga.

Màléékà - Mala'ika (angels) - Borrowed, just as "Angeli" is also borrowed

Wòlíì - Waliy (saint, holy man) - Wouldn't know, albeit Yoruba use same word ( Woli Woli) for environmentalist. Woli Woli means "those who check the cleanliness of the house and its environment". "Wo" is a Yoruba word which means to check or view. Awo also means Priest which is rooted in "Iwa" which is Yoruba word for Good character

Sáà - Sa'ah (time, term, regime) - Asiko, Igba.

Súúrà - Surah (picture, form) - Aworan.

Àníyàn - Anniyah (intention) - Edu Okan. However, "Aniyan" is also Yoruba word btw. It's not Anniyah but "Aniyan" which means "chosen intent". As a matter of fact, Aniyan is different from Anniyah. Always sink that in. In fact, the word "Yan" is a Yoruba word common in most Yoruba words. There's Ayan for example which is often used for lineage of drummers. Another word is Ayanmo as another example.

Súnà - Sunnah (tradition) - Asa ati Ise..

Sìná - Zina (adultery, fornication) - Agbere

Monofiki - Munafiq (Hypocrite) - Agabagebe.

Anfani (Benefit/Lovely/Good) - Iwulo, Daradara, Didara, Adara.

Let me also point out that while Yoruba loaned some Arabic words due to interaction with the core Northerners, considering the core Northerners were already taking Arabic due to Islam however, there are some Yoruba's original words which may be similar to Arabic for example, the Yoruba word "Lale/Ale" - Night. I wouldn't say Yoruba got this "Lale" word as a result of interaction with the core Northerners because the core Northerners don't even have the word "Lale/Ale" in their vocabulary.

In fact, Rosh (R) which means Head in Jew is also found in Yoruba vocabulary with the same meaning but not found in Northern vocabulary. Also, "She/Asah" which means "work/activity" in Jew vocabulary is also found in Yoruba vocabulary with the same meaning but not found in Northern vocabulary with similar meaning. Hence, I won't even say Yoruba got these aforementioned words from the Northerners who don't even have these aforementioned words with same meaning in their vocabulary to begin with. Likewise Ayin which means eyes in Jew vocabulary is the same as Eyinju in Yoruba vocabulary. Hence, I won't say Yoruba got all these aforementioned words from Hausa who don't even have these several aforementioned words in their vocabulary with same meanings whereas Yoruba have these several aforementioned words with same meaning in Yoruba vocabulary. Furthermore, I won't also say Lale word is solely Arabic because the word "Lale" is also found in Jew vocabulary.

As a matter of fact, Arabs loaned several words from the Jews, Persia etc hence, some Yoruba original words which coincide with Arabic words may not actually be Arabic words to begin with because Arabs loaned several words from the Jews, Persian etc and as a matter of fact, there are several Jew words found in Yoruba vocabulary with similar meanings as the Jews but are not found in Arabic vocabulary.

For example, Yoruba (Jew) below:

Ayeraye/Oluiwaye (Yhwh) - Living Creator.

Melo (Melo) - Fullness.

Ade Aare (Adr) - Royalty and Splendor in both Yoruba and Jew vocabulary. It can also be used for Bright splendor fabric clothing in both Jew and Yoruba vocabularies. It also means Beautiful/Good which is Adara.

Beresheshe (Bereshsh) - Genesis (Genesis is the Greek word).

Binu (Benas) - Anger.

Ife (Ahava) - Love.

Orun (Aron) - High Heaven in Yoruba. "Aron" is the Jew's Ark covenant which is meant to be lifted up. Hence, Aron means elevated.

Olorun is derived from Orun which means High Heaven.

Ise (Asah) - Activity, Work, Diligence.

Ida/Idanijo (Dan) - Justice.

Ashedaye (Shadday) - Creator. In fact, Oodaye is rooted in it. Oodaye Ife which is known as Oodaye is the cradle territory of Yoruba.

Ojire (Jireh) - Blessings, To perceive, consciousness..

Iwosan/Osan (Hosanna) - Healing and Tidings.

Mare (Mareh) - Manifestation.

And etc..

All these Jew words are not found in Arabic vocabulary but are found in Yoruba vocabulary.

There's also the word "Asah" in Jew vocabulary which means work or activity. It's also "Ishe" which is part of the name of Moses which is actually known as "Moshe" which means "Water Activity" in both Jew and Yoruba vocabulary (Omi Ishe). So basically, Ishe/Asah of the Jew vocabulary means diligence which isn't different from "Ishe" of the Yoruba which also means '"Diligence or Activity". In fact, Ashe is also derived from "Ishe" which means "Diligence/Work/affirmation" hence both Ashe and Ishe are derived from each other.

So, Yoruba's Ishe which means diligence isn't different from the Ancient Jew's Asah/Ashe which also means Diligence/Work/Activity in Jew as a matter of fact. Asa/Ashe in Yoruba also means Diligence, Activity and Affirmation. Obviously, Ashe is now corrupted as Chai by some modern people today. Anyways, Asah/Ashe according to Ancient Jews vocabulary and Yoruba vocabulary means Diligence, Work, Activity and Affirmation. Furthermore, "Jakob" name is also not different from "Eyo Akobi" which means "Joy Living Firstborn" in Yoruba vocabulary and of course, it's not even surprising that Jakob was indeed chosen as the Firstborn. Hence, I will always say only the Ancient Jews know the etymology meaning of their vocabulary.

As it already emphasised, several Jew words with similar meanings are found in Yoruba vocabulary which are already highlighted above but are not found in Arabic vocabulary. In fact, "Yoab" which is a Jew name which means "Y is Father" is the same meaning as "Yoruba" name which simply means "Joy Living Heavenly Father/King"! Eyo Orun Oba!

As a matter of fact, Yoruba bear Jew name which is engraved as YR in Jew letters inscription on Yoruba Ancient Obelisk in Oodaye Ife .

That should always be noted. Yoruba have their own original words. Also, Yoruba don't know any nonsense Allah as God
