Advice Needed by adibo(op): 8:18am On Nov 10, 2024
Good morning everyone, I want to ask for your advice. I got a house in Surulere last December. The landlord insisted that I pay two years rent, which I did. I paid the rent as well as a service charge of 100k for two years, which is meant to expire next year December.
I was surprised when my landlord brought a letter yesterday evening saying that my service charge has increased to 200k and I am to pay latest 31st of December, 2024.
Does he have the right to increase my service charge this year when I have already paid for two years? I was thinking that the only time he can increase anything (either rent or service charge) is after my two years rent has expired.
What do you think?

Why are some landlords so wicked and inhumane to their tenants?

E come be like say Dem no go die one day,or Dem go carry the house follow body go when Dem die..

Op,your landlord has no right to increase your rent when your present rent is still running......You can sue him if you want but I'll advise if you speak with him one on one....But if he insist, tell him to refund your money back to you that you want to pack out........No let am pressure you..
