Armed Herdsmen Launh Fresh Attacks In Enugu Community, Kill Three Farmers by Dapromzy333(op): 7:37pm On Nov 22, 2024
Tension has gripped the Mgbuji community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, following a violent attack by armed herdsmen on Friday, News360 Nigeria reports.

The assault claimed the lives of three farmers, left several others injured, and caused extensive damage to rice farms awaiting harvest.

Shocking video evidence from the scene showed one victim slaughtered in his rice field, a basket of freshly harvested cassava nearby. The attack is part of a recurring crisis in Eha-Amufu, where between 2017 and 2022, suspected Fulani militias reportedly destroyed over 20 farm settlements and killed at least 123 residents.

Ogenyi Odoh, a community leader, expressed deep concern over the escalating violence. Speaking with SaharaReporters, he decried the killing of the farmers and the destruction of farmlands, emphasizing that attacks on rice farms have been ongoing for two weeks.

Further complicating the crisis, injured victims seeking medical help have been turned away by the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUT Parklane) due to an ongoing workers’ strike.

Odoh also revealed that soldiers previously deployed to strategic locations in Eha-Amufu had been withdrawn without explanation, leaving the community vulnerable to renewed attacks. He has called on both the federal and state governments to urgently address the situation and restore security to the area.

He said, “Today three people who went to their farms were killed in a most savagery brutality. What is their offence? They went to their farms and while they were in their farms Herdsmen entered the farms and start eating it. They were asked to leave and the next thing was to kill them. As you can see in one of the video clips, the man was killed in his rice farm.

“You can also see in the video the large rice farm that Fulani herdsmen maliciously destroyed after four months hard work.

“Is there a conspiracy, otherwise, how come after the Nigerian Army withdrew soldiers deployed to Eha-Amufu prior to the election and attacks and killings resumed?”

He added, “Only about six soldiers are in entire Eha-Amufu with 100s of kilometers border with Benue State. Our vigilantes are working but there is not much they can do. The herders are armed with AK-47 rifles with several loaded magazines.

“The man they (herders) butchered that was brought to Parklane hospital was rejected. As we speak doctors are battling to save him a private hospital where a whooping N3nillion are demanded to even commence treatment. So, you can see the severity.”

Meanwhile, Our correspondent’ efforts to speak with the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, were unsuccessful as he did not take his calls in his usual tradition.

As of the time of filing this report, he was yet to respond to a text message seeking his comment.

When will this nuisance of Fulani Herdsmen stop ?

With the heavy military presence in south east, one would think such occurences should be unheard of. It is a shame that the Nigeria Armed Forces has abandoned their primary duty of security to become a department in Federal Internal Revenue Service at market junctions and popular roads.

This is really sad, how can armed herdsmen keep attacking our farmers? It's high time the government takes serious action to protect our people and their livelihoods. We can't just sit and watch while innocent lives are lost. By the way, if you're looking for a shared apartment in Lekki or need a short let around Lekki or Lagos Island, I’ve got you covered! Let's split the rent or find someone to share with you. Contact me for more details!

See how these people keep killing us one after the other while we are all busy with ethnic bigotry.

Nigerians, let's get up and stop them before they finish us. Every Nigerian needs to listen to this message: How Street-level Nigerians Can Force NIMC to Stop A Spate Of Insecurity In The Country.

We can't have BVN, NIN, and all these things and we are getting killed off silently. Let's stop living this lazy life of bigotry while being unable to hold our government responsible.

"My people perish for lack of knowledge". So, let's use what we have (knowledge) to defeat these demons. What is wrong with us?

Even if Fulani don put juju for the meat wey dem de sell to us make we keep kwayet, abeg, make we rise above the juju. Hmmm!

This is why they arrested Ekpa and co? So these sponsored herdsmen will come and wipe out ordinary villagers in their farms?

The Chief of General staff has been crying for the head of Simon Ekpa. But these are the reasons why the people listen to Ekpa.

Where's the army to do the work they are supposed to do?

Tinubu dogs will claim Nigerians are not working hard, and that people should go back to the farm if they want to be self sufficient. This is the result of going to the farm ooo, fulani herdsmen still killing farmers after over a year of this failure of an administration.

The Herdsmen have received a new batch of Weapon supply from their Western sponsors working together with their futa jalon Nigerian Politicians. More killings will be happening to southern farmers who farm non-GMO crops in the coming days.

If Farmers are allowed to plant and harvest non-GMO crops without fear in Africa, how will the West achieve its aim of depopulating Africans through the use of their GMOs?

Care to tell us what you mean exactly!? Quit bleating in parables! Who’s the ‘slave’ and who’s the ‘master’…..and under which designation do we place you!?

Also, what’s your take on the intractable insecurity situation in your country? I suspect you’re a Tinubu/APC supporter (correct me if i’m wrong), so why aren’t you holding Tinubu responsible for the high spate of insecurity in Nigeria? Or doesn’t the buck stop at his table anymore?

What is the role of ESN? Why haven't the east replicated Amotekun in their region?

A friend whose parents are traders in the agric value chain in Akoko edo said that they go to farm without fear of attack due to Amotekun who gives security to farmers.
