In Genesis 39:2, we are told how the Lord was with Joseph by making him succeed in everything he did. Some of us misjudge this quote. We assume as long as God is with us, everything will be alright. We say God who promised will fulfil. Yes, that is partly true. But the fact of the matter is, most of the time, before promises can be fulfilled, we are liable to do our own part of the equation. Before 1 + 1 can become 2, both numbers must play their part. Therefore, we must not blame God if we don’t play our part.
We are told that Joseph was given the role of Personal Assistant to Potiphar. It is because he excelled in this role that he was given more responsibility to take care of the whole household administrative affairs. I will call that proving yourself and get promoted. Even when Joseph was thrown into the prison for a crime he did not commit, that did not deter him. He carried on doing what he knew best, being responsible and reliable. Again, he was put in charge of all the prisoners.

LESSON
As Christians, in whatever we do, give it your best shot. Never give up. Be courageous. In doing so, we place ourselves in a position to be blessed.
Matthew 25:23
“The master said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities (BLESSINGS). Let’s go and celebrate.
