Someone with money needs to buy Nairaland.com from Seun.

This forum can be more than what it is.

5. My grouse with you Seun is that you don't know that Nairaland is the Twitter of Nigeria and you're allowing yourself to be used to curtail free speech in Nigeria through such bans.

Most of these problems are because of years and years of you refusing to innovate and improve Nairaland. It seems you believe in the crude mentality of using force/ban to resolve everything, hence Nairaland problems keeps growing daily.
You hear, seun?

Does look like its warranted though.

Dear Seun,

Today makes it the second time that you're posting news of you banning Nairaland members over complaints from 3rd parties.

I understand that it is your right to run your forum how you see fit but I 100% disagree with your tactics because you're setting in motion events that are way bigger than you and you may not even know it.

1. My first impression of you is that you don't tolerate open discussion or counter opinions to your line of thought. That is why you usually lock such threads to prevent comments from NL members. I can assure you that 90% of people commenting on those threads will disagree with your decision. I can also assure you that 99% of those who will agree with you are those government sponsored propaganda agents on Nairaland who have been doing everything to prevent the world from seeing how Tinubu is destroying Nigeria by weaponising poverty and spreading suffering and hardship through his policies.

3. Today you're banning Nairaland members who post news items from other sources and you claim that the Nairaland member defamed the 3rd party. This is very inaccurate because what the Nairaland member did is share information. Is sharing of information from other sources on Nairaland now an offence that deserves permanently banning such a person?

4. I read the news of scam yesterday and my conclusion from the piece that was posted by the Nairaland member is that the scammers committed the crime using several banks including and not limited to VFD Microfinance Bank. I never conceived or reached any conclusion that VFD MFB was part of the fraud so I don't know how you were able to reach such conclusion to warrant banning a Nairaland member because a lawyer wrote a threatening letter to you. The news is still everywhere on Twitter and even BusinessDay. Are you saying VFD lawyers can equally threaten Twitter with a lawsuit and Twitter will start banning users like you are doing now?

5. My grouse with you Seun is that you don't know that Nairaland is the Twitter of Nigeria and you're allowing yourself to be used to curtail free speech in Nigeria through such bans. I can assure you that state actors who fear free speech and wouldn't want their crimes exposed will start coming after you with threat of lawsuit and arrest because they know you'll chicken out and do their bidding.

6. What is going to stop owners of content that have been plagiarized by Nairaland/Nairaland members who paste them here from coming after you and suing you to court for taking credit for their intellectual work and earning money from it?

7. You're about to open a floodgate of problems for yourself and your website and you don't know it. Most of these problems are because of years and years of you refusing to innovate and improve Nairaland. It seems you believe in the crude mentality of using force/ban to resolve everything, hence Nairaland problems keeps growing daily.

8. Please drop your regimented islamic ideology and take learning from exceptional leaders like Elon Musk and Lee Kwan Yee who battled fake news and slander with more press freedom and more free speech, giving everyone a right of rebuttal instead of using bans and arrests to curtail free speech.

9. If possible, go to school and study law so that people will stop taking advantage of your naiveness to issue you threats that you will easily bend to.

10. In summary, dear Seun Osewa, stop allowing yourself to be used to limit free speech in Nigeria.
What are the odds that you will be banned and this thread deleted? undecided
Re: D by Blazetrailer:
Lol....since Nairaland joined APC officially, it has been going down in quality and readeship.

I know quite a lot of people in diaspora that have abandoned the shit. Half of those members claimed by Nairalanders are no longer active.

That number claimed as active members by Nairaland is bloated, true active members is about 10% of that headline number, the rest are the ones that have left or become passive out of the realisation of how Nairaland has degenerated recently.

That is the reason why you can't deactivate your profle anymore in Nairaland. If people are allowed to deactivate, you would see the true number of active members and I bet half of those would be paid government propagandists.

@poster,if you have been following the news, there is now a clear trend. Attacking high net worth individuals or businesses now comes with consequences.

It does not even matter if the accuser is in the right. It is now a case of using the tools of the state.

Seun is not interested in being jailed for 6 months over someone else's crusade.

It is the same reason there is a protected Islam for Muslims section. Nairaland is based in Nigeria. It's location is not hidden. The identity and location of its owner are not hidden. So even if Seun a known atheist agrees with defamation of Islam, he is directly at risk for the actions of others.

The writing is on the wall. You may have to create your own blog going forward.

Did you read Seun's post regarding the ban you are talking about?

Read it here:
https://www.nairaland.com/8306409/defamation-vfd-microfinance-bank-dapromzy333#133536461

Seun gave detailed reason for the ban and i think it is satisfactory. While I agree that he needs to do something regarding the gross pile of savage ethnic hostility that the site has become, you alluding that he just bans for the sake of it, is out of place.

Elon Musk is on a banning spree on twitter. He is banning hardcore MAGA activists. It is his site and he does as he damn pleases. Jack Dorsey, former owner of twitter and current owner of Bluesky also bans at will. There's nothing out of place with Seun banning. I have been banned myself a number of times. Seun can f(u)ck off for all I care. It is his site so he can do damn well as he pleases.

Seun has turned himself into an emperor...
Doesn't like being criticized yet he like to bring others down at the slightest moment he can.
He uses his twitter account to spread lies and falsehood. If Elon Musk decides to act like he does on this platform will he be able to post like he does?
Re: D by Blazetrailer: 7:41pm On Jan 01, 2025
Lol.... look at a buffoon thay they are still feeding at home talking about misery just hecause if 30k/month he gets from his oppressors. You can enjoy your APC government hubger and hyoer inflation. A lot of us have taken the right decisions long ago.

Re: D by Blazetrailer:
It is true. I know of more than 6 guys here in diaspora that have deleted Nairaland from their Apps. Most wanted to deactivate first because it is linked to their email addresses they used while registering. The founder and moderators know the place would be empty if they allow people deactivate voluntarily. The guy damaged his product. I see nairaland becoming moribund soon. I understand advert traffic have dropped drastically too hence the approach to accept government funds to be a a source of propaganda in order to keep afloat

LandMann:
Your comment just brought the bolded part to my attention. I never knew that that is now the case with NL and yesterday I was contemplating deactivating my account and leaving the site for good.

It's such a shame what the owner has allowed the site to become. I used to recommend the site to people but now I don't cos it's filled with government propaganda agents and clowns who can't read and often rely on cheap ethnic and tribal slurs to make their point.

Re: D by pocohantas(f): 9:15pm On Jan 01, 2025
NL wouldn't be empty if people like your friends deactivate because it is not sensible posters making up the bulk of NL's population. It is trolls with numerous accounts. As long as those ones can run their 15 accounts joblessly, the numbers would rise.

As for Seùn. Why would anyone pen a piece to him? I commend you for trying.
Re: D by happney65: 9:18pm On Jan 01, 2025
Oloshi ni bọbọ ṣeun yen

He can look the way while tribal trolls had a fill on his site. But started to shake and ban someone who reported something others too were reporting.

Instead of simply deleting the post if found to be false. He went ahead and even banned the individual for reporting like everybody did but he won't ban tribal trolls and put a cavet in the Muslim section and left the Christian section open for all.

Orí bọbọ yen ti dàrú patapata. I know you can ban me,but I don't care

Trolls keep this cesspool alive. How they’re created is by banning their original accounts, forcing them to create multiple alternates, thereby cementing their existence here. When they tire of the site, they can’t leave — they become emotionally attached.

“Comments are made at your own risk,” so why did my first comment get deleted? Hypocrisy from someone who can’t see past his nose.
