Dear Fellow Dealers and Nairalanders,
  I want to share my experience in pre-ordering a SUV for a Client Today as no knowledge is lost and i believe at the end of my story we will all learn 1 or 2 things pre-ordering a Car from USA.
 
I have been buying Cars from USA both on Auction and directly from dealers in USA and after every deal I always have something to learn. I set out looking for 06 Honda Pilot V6 and 4WD {picture below} for a Client who have never met. I came across one that fits my client budget and exactly the Color he desire. I in conjunction with my agent in USA finalized the deal and ready for Purchase of the lover bird below.

Dealer requested for a deposit claiming the SUV might be sold anytime soon but as our Policy, any Car/SUV above $5000 will be inspected before Purchase. I did Vin-Check which checks out,1 Owner and SUV qualify for buyback protection. My agent drove almost 5hrs to Inspect the SUV in another state and what was discovered with the performance of the engine was nothing to write home about.

Lesson 1: We should not only rely on Vehicle Carfax as we always ignore something boldly written on every Carfax which says "Not all accidents or damage events are reported to AutoCheck". If a Car was involved in an Accident and nothing is reported to relevant Authorities {DMVA and the likes} nothing will show on the Carfax and for Clients that believe so much in low mileage Cars, i reserve my comments.

Lesson 2: Do not make any Commitment for any Car prior to inspection as you may find something you didn't bargain for and you might forfeit your commitment.

Lesson 3: Always have someone on ground in USA to do inspection before making any purchase as not all WHITES are white.

A freind of mine ordered a CLEAN TITLE car this year online, and when the car arrived nigeria, the gearbox was dead and the head lamps where just taped onto their frames. We laughed so hard at him to his face for trying to be smart without consulting us who are in the business.
