The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) is horrified and sickened by the cold blooded murder of innocent worshipers on Christmas day in the Northern parts of the country. The indiscriminate and reckless bombing of innocent Nigerians who were peacefully engaged in acts of worship has yet again unmasked the criminal nature and motive of the evil perpetrators.

The targeting of worshipers in places of worship is an abhorrent act which contravenes the principles of Islam, humanity and logic. The subsequent bloodbath was an incredible tragedy which words fail to describe. We add our voices to those around the world who, horrified by yet another attack, continue to search for answers as to how our nation can escape from the grips of the hate cultists bent on imposing their evil ideology on us.

No words can describe the grief and horror we feel on this occasion and we express our sincere condolences to the whole Christian communities in Nigeria and beyond. We offer sincere condolences to the families of the victims and call for a swift resolution to the conflict in that troubled region of the country so all people may live in peace and freedom. Those who commit acts of terror, murder and cruelty in the name of Islam are not only destroying innocent lives, but are also betraying the values of the faith they claim to represent. On this occasion and in similar incidents, Nigerian Muslims and Muslims everywhere stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our Christian brothers and sisters and we are determined to continue to work together to remove the mischief of those seeking to destroy peaceful co-existence and harmony. We feel the sorrow and share the grief of all that were affected by this tragedy- this evil attack is a crime committed against mankind.

Nigerian Muslims refuse to allow our faith to be held hostage by the criminal actions of a tiny minority acting outside the teachings of both the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. We repudiate and dissociate ourselves from any Muslim group or individual who commits such brutal and un-Islamic acts. Those who think that they will be successful by indiscriminately killing innocent people or causing upheaval in the society, or by spreading fear and wickedness are clearly in error.

God Almighty has forbidden all acts of terrorism and has condemned all those who consent to terrorism, knowingly shed blood of the innocent and look with hatred on the world. These terrorists will have their days in the court of God Almighty.

Allah says in the Quran that if two believers are fighting, the other believers should seek peace between them.

After the establishment of peace, if one of them starts hostility towards the other, then all should cooperate with and support the other against the one who rekindles the hostility.

That's even among Muslims.

Based on what the messenger [as] had instituted in terms of respect of religion, ethic and community peacefulness, we see the first caliph, Abu Bakr [ra] building on it, when some believed that the payment of Zakat is no more obligatory. Islam permits the routing out of evil doers among her ranks, the reasons there are punishments prescribed for offenses.

The one one kills especially in a manner that is unjust, wasting the lives of the innocents, such should be dealt with in like manner, to eradicate him and as example to deter others.

Allah is just and those who take lives unjustly will receive Justice of Allah. I truly believe that the muslims of Nigeria along with the Nigerian government should declare war against this evil group. If they are defeated, the other groups will easily cower and give up evil. When the worst evil is defeated, the others with less potency will leave the stage.
