You are welcome to the year 2012. It is with joy that you are grateful to be alive to have entered in it. Congratulations, and my best wishes go out to you all.

Indeed, at this dawn of the year, we all have aspirations; we’ve most of us made resolutions; there are expectations of what the year should spell. That is all in order, for anyone without a dream, a vision, a focus, shall make no headway this time around. It is as you make your plans and forecasts that you launch into the path of success and fulfillment.

As you enter into this New Year, you must realize these: governments are clueless, economies are collapsing, revolutions are the order of the day, instability pervades the land, and bleakness threatens to obliterate prospects; people make promises, but they may never be fulfilled, for the vagaries of human existence may alter the will and wherewithal to do as they would; you build up structures, but these may not tide you over in the rainy day. Even humanity is confused, with the argument over the rights to express same-sex love, to procuring abortion, and the whole lot of such issues. There is no constant, and nothing is certain.

But there is a way out of this maze. There is a name given by God, by which humanity would flourish, if it places all its hopes on that name. It is the name of Jesus Christ. That is the name, the code which renders every good and desirable thing accessible to all as would put their trust in it. The only way for you to maintain focus and accomplish your set goals, despite the storms that will beat against you, is to place all your hopes upon the name of Jesus, calling upon Him in good as well as bad times. His name is embodied in the message of the Gospel. Let God’s word fill your heart, let it be your chief conversation, and let it guide your affairs. So shall you find grace to excel this year.
