The house stood proudly on the hill, its modern architecture clashing with the ancient energy that pulsed beneath its foundations. The agent, Mr. Okoye who was acting on behalf of the buyer, had been warned—the land had once been home to a sacred shrine, a dwelling place of the village deity. The land owners had disclosed it plainly, but Okoye had scoffed. "Old superstitions," he had muttered before demolishing what remained of the shrine and erecting a house.

The owner was not in Nigeria so Okoye was in charge of everything.

At first, nothing seemed amiss. He rented out parts of the house to tenants. But then, the children began to die.

It started with little Nnenna, the daughter of a young couple living in the west wing. She had been perfectly healthy, laughing and playing in the compound one evening—until she wasn’t. They found her the next morning, her small body cold, her eyes wide open as if she had seen something unspeakable. The doctors called it sudden infant death syndrome, but the villagers whispered otherwise.

Then came Emeka, a bright eight-year-old who loved to draw. His sketches took a dark turn in the weeks before his death—crude, frantic drawings of a shadowy figure with glowing eyes standing at the foot of his bed. His parents dismissed them as nightmares, until the night he screamed so loudly the entire house woke up. By the time they reached his room, he was gone, his tiny hands clutching his throat.

The adults, too, began to suffer. Businesses crumbled overnight. A tailor who had stitched clothes for decades suddenly found his hands trembling, his seams unraveling. A shopkeeper’s store burned down mysteriously, despite no fire being lit. And every night, the tenants reported the same thing—the sound of faint chanting, the smell of incense where none was burned, and the unbearable feeling of being watched.

Okoye refused to believe, even as his own fortune dwindled. But then, he saw her—a woman in white, her feet not quite touching the ground, her eyes dark voids. She stood at the edge of his bedroom, her lips moving in silent fury. The next morning, he woke to find his walls covered in strange symbols, symbols no one had painted.

The village elders had warned him. The god of the land did not take kindly to disrespect. Now, the house was no longer his—it belonged to something far older, far angrier. And it would not rest until every last trespasser was gone—one way or another.

This is where my FIL and MIL's house is like that.

Very eerie, strange place that gives you the shivers. Felt like a house where someone was killed or a ritualist house.

They have heavy curtains covering windows and only select windows are opened for light and air.

And they used black nylon shits to cover their balcony so that no one can see anything inside the house at all.

And the family themselves were very strange people. No one visits them and neither do they relate with even their own family members like uncles, aunties and cousins.

They are always distant with people even though they pretend to be warm thus they do not have any friends.

And one day MIL making noise about my poison, poison. And quick quick we knew that was a sign and warning and till the world ends we no dey go dat house again

I have a friend who explained how he lived in a house for over 10 years n could hardly pay rent, to feed was a problem was even owing the landlord rent . So one day he determined that he was going to park out but where is the money.

So he decided to enough is enough and had to borrow money, saw a house and paid for 6 months with abeg cos they needed 12 months rent.

He moved into that house, within 6 months everything turn around and he remembered the piece of land he had bought 10 years previous before moving into that house. the next year he was almost completing his 6 bedroom flats. Mind you he didn't change business or business location. Still same business and location

What brought about this? I was asking him how fast he reached roofing level then within 3 months, ah its like u kept the money somewhere. That was when he started explaining this to me

Truly Nigeria economy is in a bad shape but have you tried asking questions about where u living? Have u tried changing accommodation especially when u noticed no one moves forward in such apartment.

There's always a false narrative of being hunted in villages in every home as a child.

This is a folk tales all over !!

Haunted Houses dey for Africa?

Even that Goonu Banana Haunted House story seems like one of those made-up stories that we were told actually happened but no one can really point to the person/s who it actually happened to

Please,

This is not a novel. You are narrating a story or whatever( stopped reading after the second line). There are different types of writings and you should know when to use them.

Even me myself I am a ghost

As long as you have the mindset of the belief, whatever happens would likely be associated with Ghost.

Na so people go dey blame village people only when they are broke, if village people really get your time , the one's you got before getting broke, you wouldn't have gotten it

Yes, during my student days here in the UK.

The children residential home company I worked for, got me to work for them in a location away from where I lived. To save the daily cost of shuttling from the workplace to my home which would have cost me about £26 daily and the hours. They had shortage of staff and needed me to work 5 days back to back during that winter time, they offered me to stay in one of their homes they were still setting up for business, with about 95% set up.

It was a 2 storey 5 bedroom townhouse, next to it is a care home for the elderly, I stayed all alone in that house...wetin I experience no get part 2!😂😂
