Gbawe:

The problem is that you dont actually know what federalism is to even see that the position of the ACN and the SW is the same as yours .

You may not know it, but your obvious disdain for the SW actually led you to muddle things up to end up confusing yourelf

ROFLMAO. These two sentences were unfair sucker punches to the jaws of a man that was actually punching way above his weight class.

Good One Gbawe.

What a useless party, to think I once believed in them. ACN is the most useless party in Nigeria today, no wonder Oshiomole is going solo these days. People always blame GEJ forgetting that Fashola and some of his colleagues were the first people to suggest fuel subsidy removal as a means of paying the new minimum wage.
Look at these hypocrites demanding for more revenue when they generate virtually nothing to the country. They achieved nothing in that mumu meeting they went to, at the end of the month you will find all of them going to Abuja to beg for allocation with their plates and agbada.
The hypocrisy of ACN is getting too irritating these days, they will never produce a Nigerian President till the end of days.

@Negro,

What else do I want for them? Politics or Religion, Ethnicity or Tribe, Race or Color, whatever it is, PRO is PRO and CON is CON, no two highways about it. You asserted their quote

“Our party has already expressed its reservation about the recent policy of the Federal Government regarding fuel subsidy, particularly its sudden implementation. We fully associate ourselves with the position of our party"

That is the part I was expecting them to reiterate AGAIN, what is the "expressed reservation"? This is just like sitting on the fence, I mean, do you have a transcript, news source etc where they "explicitly" fully condemned the act of the FG? That is my point, I can deduce what their position is, however, my point still stands, STOP with all the political gimmicks and speak out.

BS. These guys are lily-livered liliputians speaking tongue in check and hiding under the shadow of their party. You do not merely mention an unknown position to an ignorant or different audience. You state the position CLEARLY (for e.g., ''our party ACN said yesterday that they do not support fuel subsidy removal and we are now also saying that we do not support it''). This is as plain as it can be, leaving no doubt in the mind of anyone what their position is. They were speaking to a different audience than the one to which their party made the initial statement so they must make their own statement and then connect it to the stand of their party. How on earth can anyone know the position of a past speech not clearly reiterated in a current presentation? These guys are either bloody illiterates or cowards.  grin grin grin grin grin grin

BTW good to see Adams distancing himself from tribally cocooned governors. Better late than never.

But they support Fashola impoverishing Eti-Osa indigenes through phantom toll gates while corruptly enriching "The Leader". Hypocrites!!

ACN took the right decision by being neutral on this issue.
Every sensible Nigerian knows THAT Oil subsidy is not sustainable.
But GEJ's timing of the subsidy removal is senseless.

^^^^

If they remained neutral, isn't it best that they did not release ANY speech at all, than they conveyed a meeting "ACN Gov's Meeting" and this is what they could proffer? They accused SE gov of being quiet to the situation, they SW gov that gathered to meet without ANY concrete resolve, what difference are they from the SE gov they accuse?
Re: Acn Governors Declare Position On Subsidy by Starlett: 8:37pm On Jan 08, 2012
In the final analysis, I'm not surprised that the SW govs took this kind of lukewarm stand. Despite the fact that ACN as a party is against the subsidy removal, the govs are too tempted by the huge billions about to be shared as usual from the subsidy funds to speak clearly. They're already envisioning the numerous Lekki toll gates they can construct with it.
shucks!!

And what do we expect from NL bigots who never fail to take decietful shots at the "Yoruba" Party because of the hatred that has poisoned their hearts? The position of the ACN Governors is very clear. It should also be noted that they are the only Party consistently demanding true fiscal federalism. A concept a certain section of the Country agitated for correctly and non-stop previously only to the remain mysteriously silent on now that "Ebele" is President. Shior. Such hypocrisy is never noted.

Only the Yoruba man does hypocrisy, bigotry , duplicity and every ugly thing associated with man according to some. Afterall, Peter Obi and Dora Akunyili were overtaken by Yoruba spirits when they appealed to ugliness via compelling folks not to vote for the "Yoruba Party" never mind that it was an Igbo candidate running on the platform of the ACN. It is pathetic you guys cannot even think or talk like well-balanced adults who should be old enough to know there is good and bad in every group as inalienably associated with humanity.

ACN Governors Withdraw Support For Transfer Of Petrol Subsidy

…Demands Fiscal Federalism

State governors elected on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Saturday after a closed-door meeting said they have sided with the party’s position on the removal of subsidy on petrol, which described the policy as ill-timed.

The position of the governors is however contrary to the position of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), which they also belong to. The NGF rose from a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday night resolving to back subsidy withdrawal on petrol.

The ACN governors however appealed to citizens on the need to eschew violence, while pressing their demand for the reinstatement of fuel subsidy.

The governors made the appeal at the meeting which held at the Marina official residence of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN).

The meeting which commenced at about 5 pm and lasted till late night, had Osun State’s Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Ekiti’s Kayode Fayemi, Oyo’s Abiola Ajimobi in attendance while Edo’s Adams Oshiomhole and Ogun’s Ibikunle Amosu were absent.

The governors explained that the responsibility for managing the nation’s petroleum resources is that of the Federal Government, while adding that “the pre-occupation of ACN as a party and its Governors is the welfare and security of our people.”

“Our party has already expressed its reservation about the recent policy of the Federal Government regarding fuel subsidy, particularly its sudden implementation. We fully associate ourselves with the position of our party.

“In our view, the debate on the fuel subsidy is a narrow one. Subsidy is a financial and economic tool, not an end in itself. We are more concerned about the totality of the economy.

“For this reason, it is imperative to immediately implement the long-standing demand for fiscal federalism. The first step in this direction is the immediate review of the lopsided revenue allocation formula,” the ACN governors said.

They reinstated their commitment to the welfare of the people, saying, “This situation remains irrevocable despite the challenging global and local economic situations.

“We are also unwavering in our commitment to the deepening of democracy and the enhancement of peace and security in our dear country, as necessary conditions for the successful implementation of life enhancing economic policies and programmes that enjoy the support of our people, and reduce the burden on them.”

Indeed - and we see how your region leads all of Nigeria in practicing "one Nigeria" and producing nationalists politicians like Peter Obi and Dora Akunyili. Useless hypocrite.

At the end of the day, GEJ was right.

Problem is, there is no good time to remove subsidy

But now, looking back some 11 years later, we see the effect of maintaining subsidy
