Lets take a critical look at this because there is more to this than we think. Is it possible they have been fighting this battle for hundreds of years. If you take a look at history you will know that the ibos have always been at the receiving end of any aggression from the north. Is it possible that there is a perceived anger and loath towards the ibos by their nature to strive into new frontiers and their nature to to survive in the midst of hostility.
If you go to youtube you find alot videos on this subject.

The seed of discord was planted by the colonial masters. It is the same as that used during the war by the Feds in Niger Delta which brought about a more recent discord. It is very easy to manipulate the uninformed public by blaming their woes on a progressing people and citing some glaring examples which they will myopically use in judging all. The final division of Igbos and their riverine brothers was done using the abandoned property saga which the Riverine people fell for and now saw the Feds as returning their lost property. The Igbos on their part rather than understand the manipulation, went to believe that it was the Riverine people that took their properties.

In a nutshell, Humans are like untamed animals and sheepishly follow a seemingly short cut to a reason for their woes. I pity the ignorant Northerners killing without justification just because they were manipulated.

Typical hausa/fulani girls wear hijab, tie wrappers to cover most part of their bodies unlike Igbo and southern girls. When the hausa/fulani see their girls wearing trousers, short skirts, they are not happy about it and blame it on the influence of Igbos, southerners, corpers. They feel the presence of southerners will destroy their traditional, moral values and ways of life.
