Lets Re-claim Nigeria From The Hands Of Our Rulers! by smileyprin(m): 9:26am On Jan 11, 2012 |
RE-CLAIM NIGERIA. Nigeria belongs to all of us. Nobody has any greater stake or right to her than you and I. We must therefore reclaim Nigeria from our tormentors. The present struggle is not just about the removal of subsidy on petroleum. It is also about good governance and also about a fight against the unbelievable level of corruption in government. Our tormentors said we must sacrifice to secure our future. No sermon is as powerful as a good personal example. They must lead by example and we would follow. Our demand should be the following and we would accept no less. 1. THERE MUST BE IN PLACE A LAW THAT MAKES STEALING PUBLIC FUNDS AN OFFENCE PUNISHABLE BY PUBLIC EXECUTION. 2. THE IMMUNITY CLAUSE MUST GO BOTH AT THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVELS. 3. THE PRESIDENT MUST SELL OFF ALL THE AIRCRAFTS IN THE PRESIDENTIAL FLEET (the Prime Minister of Britain, a much bigger economy does not have one and travels with British Airways). 4. THE PRESIDENT'S SALARY AND ALLOWANCES MUST NOT EXCEED $200,000 (our President has no reason whatsoever, to earn more than the American President, 5. THE PRESIDENTIAL VILLA MUST BE SOLD OUT AND BE REPLACED WITH NO MORE THAN A 6BEDROOM HOUSE (the British Prime Minister lives in a 3- bedroom apartment). 6. FEEDING IN THE PRESIDENTIAL AND VP LODGE SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 1MILLION NAIRA PER MONTH. (Presently it is 90 million Naira per month for both). >:O 7. NO LEGISLATOR SHALL EARN MORE THAN A PERMANENT SECRETARY. 8. NO GOVT OFFICIAL SHALL HAVE MORE THAN ONE OFFICIAL CAR. 9. NO GOVT OFFICIAL OR APPOINTEE WOULD BE ENTITLED TO FOREIGN MEDICAL TREATMENT (whatever is provided for the citizens should be good enough for our officials). 10. THERE SHALL BE NO OFFICE OF THE FIRST LADY AT THE FEDERAL, and STATE GOVT LEVELS. ITS NO MORE ABOUT SUBSIDY ALONE: The American President has only 2 aircraft, our president has 9in his fleet and voted money recently to buy1 more! The British prime Minister has only 2 official cars, our president has 23 in his pool and only, recently voted 300m naira to buy 2 more bullet/bomb proof ones! Senators in the US earn about$6,000 dollars monthly and dats about what a university professor,or a director in a state dept, or a doctor wt 20yrs experience, or a teacher wt 25yrs experience earn too, but in Nigeria a senator earns245million Naira per annum! Dats d salary of 25 vice chancellors, or 50 medical doctors, or 60 directors, or 500 schl teachers! The US, almost d size of Africa with about 500million people have 24 ministers, and 32 govt parastatals and commisions, Nigeria has 42 cabinet ministers, and over 50 government parastatals! America with about 500million people and more mileage to drive consumes 39million litres of petrol daily, Nigeria with 150million people 60% out of which live in remote areas, yet our govt tells us we consume about 35million ltrs of petrol daily! IS SUBSIDY REALLY THE PROBLEM OF NIGERIA? 'When you marry an illiterate woman as a wife, you will definitely make stupid decisions like jonathan'-wole soyinka spoke. When Govt becomes irresponsible, The people respond! |
