PIQUED by reported killings in various parts of the country, Igbo leaders yesterday asked the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Amb. Ralph Uwaechue,  to immediately set up an emergency desk at the headquarters of the organisation with dedicated lines.

They said that the emergency desk and dedicated lines would help  the Igbo to  know victims and relations of those who have suffered attacks with the hope of ascertaining the next line of action for the zone in the face of existing insecurity in the land.

They also tasked President Goodluck Jonathan on the ultimatum given by  Boko Haram  to southerners to vacate northern Nigeria, explaining that the group was taking its cause too far.

The meeting held at the residence of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu  was attended by former Presidents General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Eze Ozobu (rtd), Chief Dozie Ikedife, chairman of south east traditional rulers council, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, among others.

In a statement after the meeting signed by Chief Ikedife and read to  reporters  by Uwazuruike, the group stated that from all indications the majority of victims of the attacks were Igbo.
