Afenifere deplores presence of soldiers in Lagos

The Afenifere Renewal Group on Monday deplored the presence of armed soldiers and other military personnel in Lagos State.
The group called for caution in the government handling of the petrol subsidy imbroglio.
“We deplore the taking over of Lagos State by the military ostensibly under the order of President Goodluck Jonathan. Even the worst of military regimes in Nigeria never assaulted our people in such brazen manner.
“We need to remind President Jonathan that he ostensibly won the presidential elections in April 2011, not because of the prowess of his South- South people but because the people of Nigeria sought a change in the political structure of the country.
The people of Nigeria thought that his emergence would fast track the modernization and restructuring of the polity, having emerged from nothingness and having not been endorsed by any of the derided power structures in the country, “the group said in a statement.
ARG said further, “We now know that President Jonathan mistook these confidences to mean that he could become a dictator and lord his views and that of a small clique on all Nigerians.
“Calling in the military in matters over which civil authority would have sufficed, overwhelming the governor and people of Lagos State in manners that smacked of absolute disdain and disregard for the Constitution.
“We in Afenifere Renewal Group can only call for deep reflection on the part of the president that such brazenness rarely last.
“In the meantime, we continue to endorse the position of the NLC/JAF/Civil societies that the strike should continue until complete reversal to the N65 benchmark and all military men are withdrawn from the roads. “

When are we going to invest this amount of energy to fight Boko Haram? I have a cynical feeling that fuel subsidy got little to do with all these ant-Jonathan campaign.

Desperate situations deserve desperate measures. Send your people home and off the streets, then the soldiers will return to their own homes. This foolishness is over already. It will be sad to lose one more life over a policy that is now for the most part now resolved. Return to your jobs and businesses not to the streets. Let us not escalate this.

The ruling party is afraid of lagosians. I suggest members of opposition party should be among those to probe corruption in governance.

Where was Afenifere when the Niger Delta was militarized?
As far as I am concerned , any miscreants that disturbs the peace of the land should be summarily dealt with!
Re: Afenifere Deplores Presence Of Soldiers In Lagos by Nobody: 4:38pm On Jan 16, 2012
Afenifere or Boko Haram, is it not easier to tell the miscreants to go back to their houses ? National Security is greater Afenifere or even Fashola

Afenifere sold Abiola to Abacha
Afenifere will sell Lagos protesters to GEJ
It is easy for me to trust my Dog than trust a Yoruba leader

I am a yoruba and i can say that AFENIFERE should shut up on this.

Soldiers can go to Niger Delta and even build barracks to make sure allocation comes to Lagos but Soldiers can not stop break down of LAW and Order.

They should go and collect their share from FG through Tinubu and ACN instead of ranting here.

What a selfish set of people.

Good for you, but no one is asking you to trust a Yoruba over your dog. It is your choice, you can even trust your pet hamster over a Yoruba, it doesn't affect the price of garri.

Won't that be nice - to have president who nobody criticizes. Oh the dreams of dictators and incompetent administrators. The only thing they know how to manage is a CRISIS - as such, even if presented with the greatest opportunity to advance a nation, they will manufacture a crisis out of it in order to be seen as doing something.

May God punish all those Afenifere people.

When their man was president and sent soldiers to kill and rape in Odi, leaving thousands dead and hundreds of women infected with HIV, where were their condemning mouths?

Abeg make we hear word! What is good for the goose is also good for the gander! angry
