Gurus in the house, My system starts up automatically when clicked to log on. What could be the problem and what can I do. I have tried Save mode and last known good configuration but to no avail. Please help. |

Maybe not rightly phrased but what I cant tell from your post is that "You dont want the system to start when you log in"? ![]() If thats the case, you can simply slam the pc on the ground (100% effective) or just look for nasty ol' brontok to help you out. But then, if you mean -"The system no longer requests for a password when you click on your user account", then, it means there no password set to that user. - "The system goes straight to the desktop when switched on", then you have only one user account on the system which has no password set and the "Welcome Screen" option has been turned off. For any of the above, simply set a password on your user account. If its something totally different that I am missing here, please be most explicit in detailing your problem. |

Maleeq, Thanks 4 ur advise, what I meant was that, when the system is switched on, after booting, when the welcome page is displayed, the system restart again. It continues like that on every attempt to booth it. |

I was unable to do anything. I used it normally the previous day, it was the following morning it started shutting itself down on getting to welcome screen. |

@zoomzu Sorry for the long delay in replying. . .was flowing wiv da festive period. Now, does it restart normally(with all the shutdown messages)?, or does the "bluescreen of death" message pop up? or it simply just powers off? As a first attempt to fixing the problem, I'd suggest you try a repair on the OS installation. You'd need your installation CD for this. Start it up from the CD and when prompted to in the text based installation menu, select the option to repair the installation. Lets see if it helps out. Else, we delve in deeper. |

My advice is to try a repair or just re-install the OS. |
